Hi Lisa,
I would be interested in seeing what you have on the Jaeck family. My Great Great Grandparents were Michael & Catherine "Caroline" Jaeck, my Great Grandparents were Charles "Carl" & Louisa Jaeck (Goecks). They lived in the Dodge/Waukesha County area. I have reason to believe Michael had siblings that lived in the area and have his family back further into Germany.

Lori in WI

I am researching Augusta Goeck who married Herman Werth in Chicago 3 Jan 1882. (I have a copy of the marriage certificate) By 1883, they were in Waterloo, Jefferson County, Wisconsin had six children that I know of: Otto, Anna, Ida Ammanda, Hattie, August and Elsie. I know little of Augusta except she came to this country as a young woman. She had 2 step brothers, Herman and Gustav Tetschlag. Her mother, Minna, Herman and Gustav and August Tetschlag came on the Ship Liepzig from Bremen in May 1882. My records say Augusta was born 12 January 1864 in Arnswald Germany. Does anyone have any information on this family???

Augusta Jaecke's parents were Caroline Fuchs and Friedrich Jaecke. Friedrich died 20 Sep 1859 and is buried in St. Paul's Cemetery, Lebanon. Augusta's death record and the immigration info lists her original home as Alt Ruednitz, Koenigsburg. In my papers, I found a Michael Jaeke listed in records for St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in (New )Lebanon. He had a son, Gustav b June 1858.

Hi Kathy,
I think I remember seeing information for Augusta.

In later records I find Caroline Goecks and that is how it was spelt in our family. I have seen a lot of names in the Germany listing having it spelt Jaeck and Jaecke.

I have mostly just started scanning whole census records for the townships that they could have lived in to find them. Oconomowoc Township is very difficult to read and I have a feeling that's where Michael and Caroline lived in 1880. Lebannon is not that far so somehow we are probably connected. Have you figured out where any of this family are buried? Michael died some time between 1870 and 1900. Caroline is living with family as a widow in 1900. Lori

My great great grandmother was Augusta Jaecke (pronounced Jack-ee now but at earlier times Yack-ee). The family lived in Lebanon, WI. Their name has been spelled many, many different ways, but I haven't seen Goeck(e) yet. Surprisingly I found them in emigration records as Jaecke in 1848. After hours and hours of searching, I found them in 1850 with the name spelled Gaher, in 1860 Yacher, and 1870 Yackya. On a few court records, the name has been Yakie and Jacke.

I've recently found a record showing my Great Great Grandparents Michael Goecks, his wife Caroline and family coming from Prussia to the US in May 1869. They settled in Waukesha County, WI. Their son Charles "Carl" lived most of his life in Hartland. I have seen the name spelt many different ways. In the ships records from CaslleGarden.org their name is listed as "Jocks". A daughter Wilhelmine is also listed. The name is pronounced Jakes.

JAECK / Toledo, Ohio cira 1890's+

I have discovered a very prolific line of Jaeck family members.
Starting with
Eugene Jaeck, b. Germany (Toledo Directory 1890-91)

Eugene had three sons:
William L. Jaeck, George Jaeck and Herman Jaeck.(all born in Toledo about 1890+
George Jaeck (married to Matilda) had about 12 children.(his brothers, William Jaeck, and Herman Jaeck, also had several children)
About half of Georges' offsprings were girls who married. When in died in 1940, he had 26 grandchildren. His daugthers married names were as follows:
Foss,
Boerst,
Sperry,
Fritz,
Meyers,
Gorr.
One of his sons was August O. Jaeck (my gf) died in 1944 at
a Vet's hosp. in Dearborn, Mi.
His brothers included Rheinhardt Jaeck (Rheinholdt, Rhieny), Ernest Jaeck, and Walter Jaeck. (Girls were Bertha Jaeck, Olga Jaeck, Matilda Jaeck) Mother's name was Matilda Jaeck.
August's cousins name was August E. Jaeck (he died about 1967). Later there was
a Roland Jaeck.
Further down the line there was a Marvin Jaeck, who died about 4 years ago. I recently talked with his wife, who lives in Toledo, and is one of
about two Jaeck's listed in the Directory for Toledo,
however she was "not into geneaology".

Hope this helps anyone trying to trace their Jaeck family.

Hello!
Yes, I still have the photo. In fact, after I had sent my posting about the photo, I found that I actually had two. On the back of the second one is written "Dec. 11, 1904, 3 pictures Johnie, Francie, Alvina" but I only have one of this apparent set of three and it is of Alvina.

As I said, I am only interested in reimbursement of my costs and postage. Both photos cost me a total of $10 plus postage of about $1, so if you want them for $11, I'll be happy to send. Email me directly with your mailing address and I'll do likewise.
Lorien Gunsallus

Absolutely none of your names listed were familiar to me. However, I have Jaeck ancestors who settled in Wisconsin in 1879 from Friedeberg, Kreis Kriedeberg, Brandenburg i.N. Prussia. They first came to Waukesha Co. and then moved to Rock Co., then Jefferson Co. and finally Walworth Co. I have not been able to find any other family members other than my G. Grandparents (who were the emigrants) and their children and direct descendents. What part of Wisconsin did your Jaeck family members live in? Do you know where they emigrated from?
I have found other people with the surname Jaeck but can't find a link to my Jaeck ancestors (who began spelling their name Yake soon after they arrived. I'd like to hear from you. Good luck.
Margaret at Mygarden4@aol.com
