Dear All,

I have a number of letters and papers from an ancestor on board ship to Melbourne in 1841. In these he (John Knox) mentions his Aunt - Elizabeth Ann Jagger.

She was married to Samuel Jagger (don't know when) who, according to an official, document of 1832 (sealed with the seal of the Archbishop of York and King George) indicates she "...Administrate all and singular goods, rights, credits, cattles, and chattels of - Samuel Jagger your husband / late of Northowram aforesaid in the Diocese of York - Gentleman...etc.

The location, names and dates may be of interest.

John Knox was in Elizabeth's will as, in 1847 "...Elizabeth Ann Jagger late of Halifax..." and Alice Knox appear in a document of power of attorney prepared in Melbourne Australia on behalf of John Knox giving POA to (I think) his cousins:
John Craven of King Street Bradford
and John Brear, Licensed victualler of the Oak Inn near Bradford.

This mentions shares in the 'Sowerby Bridge Gas Company'.

I also have the last will and testament of Hannah Netherwood dated August 4 1803.

In this she, widowed, leaves property to '...the children of my sisters Ann and Elizabeth...'. Possibly Elizabeth Jagger.

Lastly, I have a share certificate dated 24 June 1802:

"Consolidated £3 per cent. Annuities" made out to Samuel Jagger for the sum of £817.10 - it seems based on his investment of £1,200.00.

That's all but let me know if you can help elucidate or if this has been useful
