Hello there

My maternal grandmother on my mother's paternal side (whom I never knew) was a Jagoda (Ela or Elka). They lived in Pinczow Poland.

Is there any connection there?

My mother-in-law's mother was Victoria Jagoda. She was born about 1878 in Poland. Would appreciate any info on her family. She married Valentine Kluzek from Austria. They both came to the US before 1930, but I'm not sure exactly when they made the journey.

Georgia, a Josefina Jagvdas or Jagodics arrived at Ellis Island on the ship Alice from Triest, Austria on 11/17/1909. She was on her way to Youngstown, OH to her husband Josef. Accompanying her was Maria Jelenek of Batsch, Hungary, an 11 year old who was to join her father Albert in Chicago. I am working on the Jelenek family for a friend and so know nothing more about Jagoda but feel the two spellings above are variations of this same name. Hope this is helpful. Beth

First of all, my name is not Susan Renfro. My name is Georgia Golian. My husbands family came from slovakia, 1902-1913. Grandfather was andrew Golian born about 1873-1874 in old Austria-Hungary area. Grandmother was Dorotha Golian. Dora for short. Dora was first married to Jan Lalik-Tusim and they had several children. One was Madeline who married A man by the surname of Jagoda. We know nothing about her, except she was still alive in 1943. It was always assumed she remained in Slovakia. Tell us about your Jagodas please. Georgia.
