BERKELEY COUPLE GIVEN LOVING CUP
Captain Herman Jahn and His Wife Honored at Marriage Anniversary
BERKELEY, May 31.—More than 100 prominent actors and society people from about the bay were present at the golden wedding anniversary reception held by Captain Herman Jahn and his wife in Unity hall this afternoon and evening. Jahn Is a veteran of the Civil war. As a sergeant In the union army lie distinguished himself at Bull Run, and was raised to the rank of lieutenant. At the close of the war, he was mustered out with the rank of captain. He has in his possession an old confederate standard which he captured. Since the couple have lived in California. Mrs. Jahn is connected with the, Goldstein costuming firm, and made the first. costume worn by Nance O'Neil. She is a personal friend of most of the celebreties of the stage today. The employees of the Goldstein firm presented the couple with a silver, loving cup. Assisting them in receiving the guests were the two daughters, Mrs. E. Holmes Foster, and Miss Nellie Jahn, and the following grandchildren: Mrs. E. A. Smith, Mrs. K. M: Holmes, Miss Cathrine Holmes. Calvin Holmes, Henry Holmes and Ovid Holmes.
