hi Lorna,
My great, great Grandfather Leonard Jahnke was born in 1860 and moved to Winthrop, Minnesota. They immigrated to Canada in 1902, arriving at Grenfell, Saskatchewan. Their homestead was about 1 mile easy of Killaly, Sask.
There was an A&J Jahnke dry goods story in Killaly, and Arthur was the A and Julius was the J. I believe they were Leonard's sons (so my great grandfathers ... my grandfather's father?).
I'm just starting to learn a lot more about all of this. My father was born in the early 1950's in Windsor, ON. His uncle is still alive living in Vancouver, BC and apparently has a lot of the extended family history.
I've got some photos from the late 1800s and early 1900s. Will be scanning soon and uploading, if you're interested.
