hey there,
my grandparents are still in germany. their names are Brunhilde und Gerhard Jahr. My moms name is monike Jahr. now that my mom is married to my dad her last name is schmidergall. i can't find anything on my dads side so i hope this has something to do with my family. some of the jahr family might have moved to the states back in early ages..hehhe...

I'm look for some information about my great, great grandfather, Joseph Jahraus. HIs family was from Labadie/Pacific area. His daughter was my great grandmother, Ada Jahraus Milan. She was raised in New York and came back to this area with her father when she was about 22 years old. Any information would be appreciated.

My grandmother was Amalia Jahr. Her maiden name was Abraham. She was married to Henry and they lived in Sibley County. Could this be the person you are looking for?

Kristian Knutsen (Christian Knutson)

I am seeking information on Kristian Knutsen, born on July 19, 1851 at Øyer, Gudbrandsdalen. He was the son of Knud Pedersen and Maria Pedersdatter, and was one of my ancestors.

Kristian had a brother, Peder Knutson, born July 19, 1859 at Øyer who emigrated to Vernon County, Wisconsin, in 1880 and married Johanna Raabølshagen from Øyer the same year. They lived on a farm near Chaseburg, Coon Valley, WI.

Peder and Johanna Knutson went by the name Jahr. It is believed that Kristian Knutson also used this name, and may have settled in Wisconsin.

I would appreciate very much any information about Kristian Knutson (Jahr), where he lived, and his family in the U.S.

There are graves for Wilhelm and Ernestina Jahr in the United reform Cemetery in Hankinson, North Dakota. Wilhelm's tombstone reads: Wilhelm Jahr (vater) 1 mai 1836-8 Juli 1902. Ernestina's tombstone reads: Ernestina Jahr (mutter) 14 Juni 1838-1 Sept. 1914. Some of their children are
wilhelmine Justine Jahr, born 26 Dec, 1856 in Vandsburg, Westpreussen, Preussen (Ggermany) This is my great grandmother. Another child is Carl Friedrich Jahr, born 28 Sep, 1858 also in Vandsburg. Could this be your Fred? Look forwrd to hearing from you.

I have an Amelia Jahr in my family tree. Do you have spouse name or any other information to confirm if same family line? I will tell you my Amelia Jahr was married to Charles (aka Carl) Jahr (b. 1860 in Germany and immigrated 1979). My Amelia Jahr maiden name is Eggert. I have a great deal of information on the Jahr family going back to 1836. My Carl Jahr is the son of Wilhelm and Ernestine Jahr. Wilhelm and Ernestine had the following children: 1) Wilhelmine Justin Jahr b 1856, Carl Friedrick (aka Fred/Fritz) Jahr b. 1858, Charles (aka Carl) b.1860, Wilhelm Jahr b 1862, Bertha Jahr b 1871, Barbara Marie (aka Mary) b apx 1876?, Emma Jahr b 1881, Clara Jahr b 1883. I am looking for information on the jahr line. My great great grand parents are wilhem & Ernestina Jahr. Great grand parents are Fred & Louisa ( Schreirer) Jahr, And grandparents are Wiliam & Harriet (Gustafson) Jahr. Looking for any infromation on family still out there most of our's is gone now. Is this Bill upstate or down? William Jahr was my grandfather, and Katherine Lyons Jahr (his wife) my grandmother. Her daughter Catherine was born in 1915 and other daughter Rosalie had to be born earlier so I think the date of 1913 is a little off? I'm curious where you got that information.

I believe your Amella Jahr was married to Carl Jahr. Carl is the brother of my great grandmother, Minnie Jahr. We have quite a bit of research completed for Minnie Jahr and her family, I would be happy to share it with you if you like. Minnie's 1925 obituary states her siblings as: Carl who was living in British Columbia at the time and several sisters Barbara Marie(aka Mary) Jahr Weinkauf of Hammer, SD and Clara Jahr Hoffman of Hammer, SD and another Mrs. Hoffman of Gladstone Mich and Bertha Jahr Rosenberry of Wahpeton. Carl's parents are Joseph Jahr and Minnie Jazer. Nearly all of the information I have is well documented and was not simply found on the web. We have traveled through out the USA researching this family. However I did find on the web,(tonight as a matter of fact) that Amella Jahr is the daughter of August & Fredrica Eggert.
