Sorry I don't have any information on Valentine Jalbert. But you can search the Quebec Catholic Church Records. familysearch.org has records for free. Also rootsweb has good ancestry. Jalbert is a very big family so there is probably someone who has that information on rootsweb. Ronald Jalbert is a resaercher and he has a very big tree.
Joseph Jalbert married Emerence Gauthier at St-Gregoire-de-Nicolet on 6 Mar 1848. In 1852 they can be found in St-Maurice where their son Aime (probably later Angicized to Amos) was born on 24 Oct 1852. (Joseph had probably followed his older brother Antoine to St-Maurice.) Other children born to Joseph & Emerence in St-Maurice include: Joseph, b 20 Nov 1856; Moyse, b 16 Jul 1858; Philomene, b 16 Dec 1859; Mathilde, b 26 Sep 1862 and d 13 Oct 1863; Adelaide, b 12 Apr 1864 and d 5 Sep 1865; Clarissa Emma, b 31 Mar 1867 and d 11 Sep 1867. Emerence died a couple of weeks later on 13 Apr 1867. Joseph remarried Domithilde Gosselin on 15 Jun 1870 in St-Maurice. The last record of the couple in St-Maurice was on 8 Mar 1871 when an anonymous child was born to them and buried on the same day.
FYI, I am a descendant of Joseph's oldest brother, Jean. Jean and another brother, Francois, settled in St-Felix-de-Kingsey. Later on Jean moved to Stratford, QC. I'll be interested if you have additional information about where other branches of this family settled.

Yes, Amos was the son of Joseph. Amos was born somewhere in Candada about 1852. He may have had a sister or cousin named Emma Carleton, born about 1855 in Canada. The Carleton's have been a brick wall for me. I would love to connect with some of Peter's relatives.

Thanks!

Jean Charles Jalbert and his wife Josephe Lemay (I believe Lemay is a "dit" name) had a son named Pierre born 13 July 1814 and baptized the same day. Pierre's godparents were Pierre Desilais and Marie Doucet. Pierre's siblings included Jean, b 2 Nov 1802, Sophie, b 16 Sep 1804, Marie Anne, b 13 Jul 1806. Antoine, b 13 June 1808, Francois, b 13 Apr 1810, Marguerite, b ca 30 Jun 1812, M.-Archange, b 20 July 1816, Esther, b 6 Oct 1818, Joseph, b 14 May 1820, and Louis-Georges, b 12 Jun 1823. I don't have an Amos in my tree. Was he a son of Joseph?
Let me know if this matches up to the relatives that you know.

Hi Stacy,

I just wanted to update you on my research efforts on proving who Agnes May Hanson's parents were. Unfortunately, I haven't turned up anything new. I did receive a copy of her marriage certificate, but it did not list her parents' names. I still haven't figured out where she died, so I haven't been able to locate a death certificate.

I also ordered copies of Elizabeth (Peladeau) Jalbert's probate records to see if there was any mention of Agnes but, unfortunately, there was not. It's pages and pages of various records and mentions all of her kids. Do you already have a copy? If not, I'd be happy to mail it you. I see no point in keeping it for myself, but it might contain some information that would be helpful to you. Just let me know! :)

~ Kristen

He may have been named after your Grandfather (David Jalbert)'s brother Tom Jalbert...who ran a brickyard in Farmington, Maine in the 1930's and 40's. Rene and Roland were my uncles but I never knew them that well because they moved to Massachusetts when I was still a young boy. So,we are cousins too. My Mother was their sister Ann (Poisson). I've tried researching David Jalbert but never had any luck.

This might be of use to me. Thanks for lettimg me know. I am from Woonsocket, as is most of my family for several generations. My grandmother's sister Rosie married a Jalbert. I believe that this may be her husband's sibling.

My grandmother's brother, Gino Carboni, moved to Texas sometime in the 1950's or 1960's. He died there in the 1970's. I wonder if they ever met down there...

Coincidentally, I just attended Rosie (Carboni) Jalbert's funeral today. I'll post the obit in another thread.

Have information on Leandre Chevrier born Aug. 7,1901 and Elise Jalbert, born Apr 23, 1908, Sudbury. They were married,Dec 06, 1930,Sudbury,Ste Anne, and had a daughter by the name of Annette Chevrier, born around 1935. Annette was sponsor with Thomas Jeffrey, at a baptism for Maurice Joseph Gauthier, May 24, 1958. His mother was Marie Gauthier. We don't know who the father was. Maurice Joseph Gauthier was adopted, and we are trying to find his Gauthier roots.
Hi,

My grandfather is Gérard Jalbert, George's brother and your dad's. George is still alive and lives in Taschereau Québec and he has a daughter named Denise that lives in Val d'Or.(he has other children too but can't remember their names), I would have to ask Denise. You can go check under my name, I have put my genealogy up on ancestry and you can take a look at it. Eugène and Anna Butley lived in Val d'Or. My great grand parents. I cannot find Anna's parents, I know she was Irish. I'm still searching. About your father, I remember my mother talking she had an uncle that had moved far away but never heard of him ever... I know you posted in 2003, maybe you got informatin since then but if you want to contact me, I'll be glad to try to help you out. You're my mother's cousin. Have a nice day :-)

yes this sounds right because on Louis wifes side I believe that there is some native american, and they were french canadian. Hmmm I'm wondering if May hansens mother was a Palideau. On the Palideau side there is a story handed down from generation to generation that a soldier named Peladeau in a military capacity came to canada and decided to stay in the new France. He sent for his wife and 4 children, shortly after arriving to New France his wife died. He then took a new wife who was native american thought to be of the blackfoot tribe. She is who we a desended.

Hi Stacy,

Thank you for continuing to dig for information! I recently talked with my grandfather and great aunt (May's grandchildren), and they both remember visiting relatives with the last name Jalbert as a children. This confirms in my mind that the May Hansen in the 1900 census is definitely my gg-grandmother.

Neither my grandfather or his sister know of the exact relationship between their grandmother and the Jalbert family, but they both remember their Jalbert relatives (a man and a woman) visiting them in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the 1930's. According to my great aunt, May's daughter Evelyn Lunde also lived with the Jalbert family for a time. Both my grandfather and my great aunt were told that their heritage on their mother's side of the family was Norwegian, French Canadian, and Native American.

Do you have any older relatives who might remember anything about my side of the family and how we are related? May Hansen married Henry Carl Lunde before 1910 and they had several children - Ruth Lunde (my great grandma), Carl Lunde, Evelyn Lunde, and Betty Lunde. Ruth Lunde married Everett Blauvelt in 1928 and had two children -- my grandpa Everett Jr (aka "Jim") and Barbara.

My grandpa seems to think his grandmother (Mae Hansen Lunde) died in Milwaukee, so I will check for her death certificate there. In the meantime I'm going to try calling some more Lunde relatives to see if I can dig up anything else!

Thank you so much for your help!

~ Kristen :)

I think it may be possible that her mother was a Peladeau, since I have found some of Elizabeths siblings in North Dakota. I don't think she is Louis Jalberts niece but his wifes. His wife was a peladeau which is spelled wrong many times in census records. In the NDSU librarys I found a Fred Hansen and wife Elma Hansen who was early pioneers in the Elm River area. It is possible these are her parents but not sure. I need to got to the NDSU library and look in the Books for Grandin, ND to hunt them down.
In the 1900 census of Louis Jalbert is says May Hansen was born Jan 1887, in North Dakota age 13. I'll keep looking and keep you posted

Hi Stacy,

Have you been able to determine anything new about this May Hansen since you last posted? I actually came across the same record tonight searching for my gg-grandmother, May Hansen, who would have been born about 1889 in North Dakota. I don't know for sure if this is her, but some of the information I do have seems to match the May Hansen living in the Jalbert household.

In 1910, my May Hansen is married and living with her husband Henry Carl Lunde in Moorhead, MN. According to the data in this census, she is 20 years old, born in North Dakota, her father was born in Norway and her mother was born in "Canada French."

What's interesting is that I was told by my great-aunt (May's granddaughter) that May was adopted/orphaned, which seems to match the May Hansen in the Jalbert household. Also, I believe Moorhead, MN, neighbors Cass County, ND.

I really suspect this might be my gg-grandmother, but I am at a loss as to how to prove it. I've been searching for her (and her husband's) death record for years, and haven't been able to locate anything in MN or ND. Same goes for their marriage records, unfortunately.

If you happen to have any information that might help prove/disprove that our May Hansens are one and the same, it would be much appreciated!

~ Kristen :)
