Good morning Gentlemen,
As previously mentioned, Robert Jameson is also my great great grandfather.
Notes sent years ago to me (from my mother in South Africa) put Robert Jameson's birth as 1840 which up until now I assumed was incorrect as all the references to him on the internet give 1832 as his birth year. Our family bible has the following recorded: "Capt Robert Jameson of Kilmarnock, Scotland (79th Cameron Highlanders) born 23 March 1840".

Robert Jameson also wrote a book entitled:

"Historical Record of the Seventy-Ninth Regiment of Foot or Cameron Highlanders".
You can access it on Google. On the cover is the above mentioned title and also:

"by Captain Robert Jameson
HP Depot Battlion
Late Quartermaster Seventy-Ninth Highlanders"

I've sent a message to my sister in South Africa to clarify the birth year again in the family bible and will confirm this when I hear from her - but the book may be something to check out in the meantime.
