Hi, I hope you find whatever information you're looking for.
My father's name is Russell Jamison and mine is Paul Jamison. I am, unfortunately unfamiliar with the names you mentioned. I do know that my mother was born in Florida and my father had other children outside of wedlock. Not sure if that helps. lol.

Well, here it is 10 years later!!! My family is one of procrastinators par excellence!!!

"Aint Hat" (Hallie Barefield died in the early 1960s - before 1965 - I don't remember exactly. We attended her funeral on LO Mountain. "Aint Bessie Batt" was still living at that time because she met us at the incline. I was only about 12 so it would have been in 1961 or 1962.

My mother (Evelyn Kilmer) had 3 children - my brother Fred Langley Palmer (coincidence that you are a Langley?) and my sister Claire Evelyn Palmer. I am the youngest. We were spread out over 16 years.

The Langley in my family came from my father's mother - she was Georgiana Esther Casell Langley who married Clarence Bruckner Palmer sometime before 1905 in Atlanta. My father was their only child.

Are you a relative?

A census worker of the time should be taken with a grain of salt I'm afraid. Someone employed with the mormon family history center told me three censuses give you the proof. I'm afraid my grandmother did not write down anyone past Jasper and Celia as they were my grandfather's family and she had no personal knowledge.
Robin

My mistake - you're right - it is Cora, not Celia. In the 1900 US census, the census taker wrote that Jasper's parents were from Virginia; I don't know if this is an error or if they were from a part of Kentucky that once was VA. I'm trying to understand his connection with William Harrison Jamison and Winneford Jamison (sp). William was born ca. 1815 in KY while Winneford was born ca. 1817 in VA., according to all census records I've seen (1850-1880, MO). Did your grandmother mention these people?
Jennie

That's the guy although Cora is the other sister. I believe you are thinking of Celia, Jasper's wife. As for William Harrison - that is William Harrison Jamison so they are likely father and son. I just learned of Minnie and Cora today so I have had zero info on Jasper. My grandmother believed he died in Excelsior Springs, Missouri but I have yet to find a grave but I'm in California so....
Robin

I have found some info. re Jasper Jamison; he had 3 children (Minnie in 1872, Celia in 1875, and Ed in 1876). He is listed in the 1900 US census in Hayes Co., NE living with Minnie and her husband, Charles Korell. Was he being reared by William Harrison and Winneford Jamison or was he their son? There is a "Jasper Newton Jamison" who is listed with them in the 1850, 1860, and 1870 US censuses. I assume he is the same person. Do you have info. concerning where he is buried and his parentage? Thank you.
Jennie

Stephanie, I am so sorry to just now be replying to your message.....I just now saw it. My husband is the gr grandson of Mary Jane Jamison who married Hugh M. Tully. Mary Jane "Dolly" was the youngest child of Shadrack and his first wife, Elizabeth Roberts. I am very interested in communicating with descendants of William Arnold Jamison, since I have found it interesting to follow him and his wife in the census records. I have collected data on all thes kids of Shadrack. You can look at my stuff on Ancestry.com. I am never finished with a family and am alway adding to. However, I have a lot of info in my database that I have not uploaded to ancestry.com.

I have a Jane Jamison, age 78 living with Grier Rolston and his wife Rebecca Martin Rolston, in NYC. I don't know her relationship to Grier and Rebecca. Possibly an aunt, mother, or other of either. I'm assuming that Jamison is her married name. Anyone have any hints? I'd love to find who she is, her relationship, husbands name, etc. This is the only Jamison I have, in my genealogy, so far. Grier and Rebecca are also born in Ireland. I found Rolston family ship records. No Jamison. How is she related. She could be my break through to Ireland. Thanks.

Dear Cecil,

I can tell you that the name Jamison is a sept of the clan Gunn [motto, Either War or Peace] who originally came from Caithness & Sutherland in the Highlands of Scotland. Many Jamison's settled on the plantations of Northern Ireland around the 17th century settlements. Many were connected to the Presbyterian Church and some were active in the British army abroad. You may have heard them being referred to as Ulster Scots.

Hope this helps a wee bit.

Good luck with your searches.

All the Best,

Barbara Jamison-MacAskill

I am also researching our Jamison family tree. My Grandfather was Freddie Jamison, b.18/10/1909, Ardihannon, Bushmills, Antrim. His parents were William [McDowell] Jamison [age 66 at time of the 1911 Census] & Mother was an Annie Huer [age 37 at 1911 Census]. William b. Co. Down & Annie b. England. They had 4 children by 1911 including Oswald Hewer, age 15 b. England; William, age 12, b. England, Harriet Anne, age 9, b. Co.Down & of course Freddie, b. 7 Ardihannon, Bushmills, Antrim.

Oswald is apparently mentioned in the Ballymoney Free Press on 05/12/1912 as having died on 10/11th November, 1912 at age 15. Harriet Anne died at 22 & William Jnr at age 37 two years after William Snr. Annie Snr died 62 yrs of age. I don't know the story behind their deaths though. William Jnr wore a brace due to injuries sustained during the Great War.

Freddie went on to marry an Elizabeth McCurdy Purcell, b. 1907, 9, Curramoney, Antrim. They had 8 children - Phylis, Winifred, Clifford, Hilda, Harold, Frederick Ian, Kenneth & my father, Stanley b. Ballynahinch, Co.Down on 09/06/1944.

Latterly, Freddie ran a garage at 269 Shore Rd, Belfast where he died in 1972 when I was seven.

Does this ring a bell with anyone? Freddie played pipes for the Field Marshall Montgomery Pipe Band.

Please contact me. I would be most grateful.

Good luck with your own research by the way.

B. Jamison-MacAskill

Your message made my hair on the back of my neck prickle. My grandfather is John William Jamison. He was born in 1884(?). He was also in McDowel county NC. He lived mostly in the Marion NC area. He was married to Margaret and had a son named Douglas. Margaret died of a heart attack. My Grandfather then married Pansy Myrtle Adkins (Atkins in some records)in 1925 or 1926. She was only 13 1/2 at the time and he was 4l. His Jamison family did further marry into the Adkins family. My grandmothers younger sister Dorothy married my Grandfathers nephew Gaston Jamison. I have a farming picture of my Grandfater John William Jamison and my uncle Douglas Jamison working with a group of men that also included my grandfathers future father in law Dolph Adkins. Do we have any connections there?
Sincerely, Cynthia Jamison-LaFont

Unfortunately, we don't know much about the Jamison family who owned the bible. There was a step relationship involved.

The bible was last owned by Milton Jamison who was originally from Missouri before relocating to southern Indiana and eventually to South Bend, Indiana.

Advise if this is your family.

Ok I went back to our family tree and John William Jameson moved to MO with his parents Mahala Bruce and William Jameson. He had a son John E Jameson or James E Jameson(he went by both names) which was my husbands gr-gr-grandfather. His half brother was a Milton B Jameson also born in MO. but in 1864. Not sure if those dates you gave match any direct line that I am familiar with as they all seem tohave the same names! WIlliam and Mahala moved to Mo from KY with John William Jameson. I do not have on record any of John W's siblings. Thank you though for the info I do appreciate it.
