I don't think that Catherine Janas in the 1930 Census (for Amber Township in Mason County, Michigan) is the same person. Catherine was the 2nd wife of John Janas. I believe Catherine's maiden name was Chmura. John's original wife Agatha Wenc ("Aggie" in the 1920 Census) died in Chicago in 1922.

my name is mary janas. my paternal grandfathers name was walter janas and lived in vermont and ny,ny and brooklyn ny after coming over from poland in the earlt 1900's

You should be able to find a location in the church baptismal records of the children. If your ancestors married in US than do search for a church marriage record and state marriage application.

I am searching for any information on relatives of Victoria Janas. She would be my gg-grandmother. She was born December 26, 1863, and lived in Krosno, Austria. She married a Peter Klimek and they had (from what I know) one child John Jacob Klimek. She immigrated to the United States around 1902 and settled in th Glassport area outside of Pittsburgh, PA.
She died March 1, 1936 in PA.

passed away Wednesday May 12, 2010 at the Hamot Medical Center. She resided in Erie. She was born in Conewango, N.Y. July 12, 1933, daughter of the late Wallace J. and Treasa E. Osterman Barber. She is survived by her sons Albert Hilinski and Errol Hilinski, her grandchildren, Krista Williams and her family, Carly Hilinski and Taylor Hilinski. She was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were private and held at the convenience of the family. The Mark G. Razanauskas Funeral Home 701 East Avenue Erie handle arrangements. Memorials may be made to the A.N.N.A. Shelter 1555 East 10th St. Erie, PA 16503.

Although this is an old post I will give it a try. My father is Richard Janas (he has posted a few times) his father is Chester. Chester's father was Joseph and his mother was Rose.

That's as far as I have gone back. Any information on Joseph would be great. Place of birth (Poland)? , his siblings, his parents.

I am looking for any information that may be related to Joseph Janas. His wife was Rose (Panek?) and his children are Chester, Casmir, Edward, Steve, Walter, Stanley and I think Mary.

I believe he was born in 1878 in Poland but thats all I can find. If any one has any information on him or any of the other mentioned I would appreciate it.

My grandson is into genealogy and has been asking me about my family tree. So one night he and I sat down and went through my grandmother's papers and one of the names on my grandfather's papers was Tekla Janas (maiden name Gasiorowicz or Gasienwiecz) notice how names change during translation. She was married to a Andrzej Stanislaw Janas. They had a son named Stanislaw. They came from Zarnowc or Jedlicze Poland.

I have a Katherine Janas that married Albert Mystarz. The only information I have on them is that they had a son named Frank, born in Cracow, Poland. Frank was born May of 1880. Frank was married in 1906 to Maryanna Stolarz.

Re the msg. you received relative to the 1930 census in San Francisco CA, that is indeed my family. I am the George Radcliff Janas, listed, as aged 6. My mother is indeed Grace Matteson Janas born February 28 1899. My father, Sigmund Joseph Janas Sr., born November 23 1899. My brother was Sigmund Joseph Janas, Jr. I must withhold the birth date for security reasons. The name Sigmond is in error. It was my father who died in 1977 and my brother who died in 1993. My father was born in Lower Lake CA; my mother in Orange County CA; my brother and I in Sacramento CA. We resided at 3550 Divisadaro St at the time of the 1930 census. my father never talked to me about his family although I was informed he had a brother, William and a sister.I know nothing of my paternal grandfather.

Walter was born in 1892, and his wife
Cecilia Dudek was born in 1888.

She had a son prior to marrying Walter,
he died as a result of a German landmine while riding a bike.

If you are looking for Michigan Janas', I used to be one. My name is Michael Phillip Janas and my mother is Judith Ann (Kelly) Janas and my father is Leonard Nelson Janas. I have one daughter, Illyana Rose Janas. Am still trying to find mother and daughter since moving to Texas.

Died in 1939 and buried in Holy Sepulchre Cemetary,Rochester, New York. Looking for descendants.

I don't know if this is the same Tillie Janas that you are asking about, but my Grandmothers name is Tillie Janas who was married to Stanley Janas from poland she lived in Boston, then they moved to Chicago.
