Need help in finding the birthplace of Jandro, Jandron, Gendron kin

I am trying to locate the birthplace of my husband's great grandfather and great grandmother. Their names are Matilda Poyer and Samuel Jandron or Jandro. (Samuel's name also appears as Anselme Gendreau and Gendron on some Church records). The earliest record that I can find of Samuel and Matilda Jandro/Jandron came from a Civil War pension record. It is the recording of their marriage on April 14, 1849 in Burlington, VT at St. Mary's Church. This Church is now the Catherdral of the Immaculate Conception in Burlington. The couple moved to Plattsburg, NY after their marriage and raised a family of 9 children. Both Samuel and Matilda are buried in Plattsburg, NY. Now I am trying to find their place of birth in Canada--I assume it is Quebec, but do not have any proof of this. On the 1850 NY Census there is a Francis Jando who is living with Samuel and Matilda and his age is such that he could be the father of Samuel, but again I do not have any proof of this. I do not know the year that Samuel or Matilda came to the US and Vermont, only that they were here in 1849. If anyone can suggest places for me to start my search in Canada/ Quebec for these elusive ancestors, I would appreciate it. It seems that the US/Canada border has been a stone wall for me and I cannot get across it. If any of the above names or dates are familiar with your family's ancestry, I would like to hear from you. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. My email address is nevassau@aol.com
