Surnames: Jankauskas, Suzgda
I'm just starting out because I was given a document from my father regarding my grandmother. He found it in the attic.
It's her Declaration of Intention from 1940. In it she says she was born in Skaudvile, Lith, in 1885, emigrated from Lith, through Bremen, Germany to New York in 1899 aboard the SS Stuttgart, and married my grandfather, William Suzgda, born in Suvalkia, Lith, in New York in 1900. His DOB and emigration dates were listed as unknown. He died in 1938.
She died in Illinois in 1961. I also have her death certificate, but Mother and Father's name are listed as unknown. Her DOB is wrong, with the date being 1894.
I also know she went by the name of Anna Suzgda after her marriage to William. Somewhere around 1950, the family dropped the g from the name.
I've been searching all the usual places, LDS, WorldConnect, and cannot come up with any information that she ever even existed.
Any suggestions from the group?
Thanks,
Tom
