ADELINE ELEANOR JANOWSKI Age 91 years, a lifelong Chesterton resident, passed away Friday, December 31, 2004 at Porter Hospital, Valparaiso Campus, Valparaiso, IN. She was born April 11, 1913 in Chesterton, IN to the late Albert G. and Esther J. (Carlson) Peterson. She was a 1931 graduate of Chesterton High School. On March 4, 1938 in Augsburg Lutheran Parsonage in Porter, IN, she married John "Jack" JANOWSKI, who preceded her in death June 16, 1954. Survivors: daughter: Jacqueline (Floyd) Nelson of Porter, IN; 2 grandsons: Darren (Starla) Nelson of The Pines/Lake Station, IN, Jason (Brenda) Nelson of Jacksonville, FL; 5 great grandchildren: Lindsay Nelson, of Lake Station, Jacqueline, Jason, Jr., Jessica and Jacob Nelson, all of Jacksonville, FL; brother: Gerald A. (Doris) Peterson, of North Leverett, MA; brother-in-law, (RET,LTC) Howard L. Vedell, of University Place, WA; 2 nephews, Curt (Ruth) Peterson, of WA, Tom Peterson, of MA; great nieces and nephews: Kurt Thor, and Blair, of WA, and Michael and Jamie, of WA; also survived by numerous good neighbors and good friends. She is also preceded in death by 3 brothers: Clarence Peterson, Reuben A. Peterson and Raymond W. Peterson, along with two sisters, Mildred A. Peterson and Florence E. Vedell. Adeline was retired from child care and housekeeping. She was a lifelong member of Augsburg Evangelical Lutheran Church in Porter. A member of Duneland Historical Society for many years. Her interests included gardening, she was an animal lover, as well as an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed photography, antiques and local history and was an environmentalist. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2005, 11:00 a.m. from Augsburg Lutheran Church, 100 Mineral Springs Road, Porter, IN with Pastor Erik Bernth, officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Augsburg Lutheran Church. Adeline will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Arrangements under the direction of the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd Street, Chesterton, IN. Phone: (219) 926-1309.
