Janowski/Krupka Families in Edwardsville/Kingston Area of PA - near Scranton

My grandmother, Cecelia or Celia Janowska was born (abt 1887) in Poland/Russia and came to PA in 1901 according to 1920 Census records. They lived on "Meyers" St--not sure about that. She and my grandfather, Josef Krupka (arrived 1892 and born abt 1878) had ties with St. Hedwig Church in Kingston. I do believe they were married there (abt 1908-09, and had all five children baptised there: John (1910), Frank (1912), Leokadia (1914-died while a child and buried at St. Hedwig Cemetery), Anthony (1918) and Jenny (1921). I would appreciate any information about ties to either of these people.

I am also searching for Joseph Janowski (possibly middle name is John) born 1895 - 1897. I believe he was born in Cleveland, Ohio but moved to Michigan (Detroit area). He had 3 sisters Leocadia and Frances born in Poland but came to US. As a young boy he lived with Leocadia & Adam Golkowski in Cleveland. Also a sister Josephine (Janowski), born in Cleveland, married to Constant Bulkowski (my grandparents). Josephine was raised by the Kalas (Collis) family. I keep coming up with your Joseph and a Joseph whose wife's name may have been Marry, Son Joseph, Daughter Lillian, Father-in-law John Tucholski. Both were on the 1930 census. I am more inclined to think it was the later one.
Thank You
Karen

Andrew Felix Janowski

I carry the last name of Janowski but through a previous marriage. My ex-husband passed away in 2003 but we had one son. I am trying to gather information to add to my family tree. Someone posted the birth of Andrew Felix in Texas in 1882-1883 and I know he passed away here in 1959. He married Mary Matilda Dickerson and I found military registration in Harris County, Tx. He was living in Humble, Tx. I haven't been able to find an early Texas census record that included Felix. I had heard previously that brothers came from Poland (don't know where to) but later at least one came to Texas. There are other Janowski's in this area that we don't know and I have just started searching. If anyone has come across this name in their searches, I would appreciate any info.

In his final years he lived in our home. She died unexpectedly in my teen years. Funny to find your message! I had become frustrated in search for history and documents to substantiate. I am curious as to your tie in to them for we were told there was little, if any family left.
Janowski , Leon Adam or Stephen

My great grandfather is named Stephen Janowski. He was born in Kracow, Poland on April 11, 1902 and died in 1983 in California. He was married to Elizabeth Dorothy Ribandt either in 1925 or 1926 in Illinois. His father was named Leon Adam Janowski. If anyone has any information on any of these people it would be greatly appreciated. They moved to America around 1906 I think. Thanks Moonfleur@aol.com

I am looking for information on John JANOWSKI & Phyllis WISNIEWSKI. They had six children in Scranton, PA. One son, Joseph (he changed his surname to JANOSKY) born Oct. of 1900. Sophie born 1904, Josephine born 1906, Marian born 1908, Anna and Celia. Rumor has it that the mother Phyllis died young and the children were left in the care of the oldest child Celia. Can't find them in 1900 or 1910 census records. By 1920 children are split up and in Cuyahoga County, OH. Does anyone recognize these JANOWSKI's?

Dear Kristen,

This may be a big leap of faith but your father, Gordon Janowsky, may be a classmate of mine. My name is Ted Klenk and the Gordon that graduated with me was in the class of 1955. I am trying to get in contact with him.

I briefly contacted him when he lived on the peninsula in the San Francisco Bay Area then he moved and I lost contact. Is your dad and my classmate the same person? If so any help you could offer to put me in contact with him would be most appreciated.

Ted Klenk
