Hospital social worker, Carolyn Jaquith dies at 58,

Carolyn Zeichner Jaquith, a na - tive Riverdalian who spent her first 37 years in the community, died on Jan. 14, at Westchester Medical Center,
She was 58.

She attended the Robert J. Christen School, PS 81, JHS 141 and the High School of Music and Art. Her family belonged to Riverdale Temple where she was confirmed and later attended the temple high school. She graduated cum laude from Stony Brook University, with a bachelor's degree in psychology and received her master's degree in sociology from Columbia University School of Social Work.

She worked for several years as a social worker in the pediatric unit of North Central Bronx Hospital, and later was promoted, serving as child abuse coordinator at a number of Bronx hospitals.

She took a position in the human relations department of Chemical Bank in Manhattan, but later quit to raise a family. About five years ago, she returned to work, teaching dance and movement to 2- and 3-year-olds in Chappaqua, N.Y.

She and her husband of 28 years, David, lived in Riverdale and after having their first daughter moved to Briarcliff Manor, N.Y. They have two grown daughters.

Ms. Jaquith was an avid swimmer and loved music, theater, movies and dancing. She read The New York Times from cover to cover every day and was a crossword aficionado. "There was never a task that she undertook that she didn't accomplish with care and accuracy," said her childhood friend, Phyllis Steele, director of marketing at The Riverdale Press.

Ms. Jaquith is survived by her husband, David Jaquith and two daughters, Julianne and Alyssandra, of Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.;
her sister, Barbara Zeichner of Buffalo, N.Y.;
and her father Oscar Zeichner of Riverdale.

She was buried at Mount Hope Cemetery in Hastings, N.Y. on Jan. 16. A service at Temple Israel of Northern Westchester in Crotonon- Hudson, N.Y., followed.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the rabbi's discretionary fund of Temple Israel of Northern Westchester, Glengary Road, Crotonon- Hudson, NY 10520.
