I just now saw your post. I don't know of anyone in my line that has Cherokee linage. If there was possibly someone who could have Cherokee linage, would be in my opinion Magdalene James Rogers my 3rd Great Grandmother, but there has never been any speculation really or any documentation. Magdalene was married to William Lloyd
Rogers. They were my 3rd Great Grandparents

Their Daughter was Sarah Elizabeth who married John Porter Jarnagin. These two people are my Great Great Grandparents.
The only story I heard was an antedotal story about my Grandpa John Porter who it was told was waiting in line with Sarah Elizabeth, for some handouts that were being given to people who could show that they were part indian, and I guess the line was way too long, and John Porter whom everyone knew as Porter, was never one to mince words, so he said "The Heck With This" or something to that effect, because he wasn't going to wait in line for anything.

Now I don't remember where I heard that story of even if there was an incident like that, that had happened, but it does make an amusing story!
