LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio – Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the McCauley Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Edward Church at 10 a.m., for Harold T. Jarvis Jr., who passed away Tuesday afternoon, October 20, 2012 at his home.
Mr. Jarvis, who was known as “Snook,” was born on June 23, 1935, in Youngstown, Ohio and was a son of Harold T. and Margaret Hemphill Jarvis, and was a lifelong member of the community.
Mr. Jarvis was a member of the church, a graduate of The Rayen School, an avid golfer, where he was a member of North Hills Golf League, VFW Lodge 3307 and Army Navy Garrison 360.
He was the owner and operator of Jarvis Cities Service at the corner of Bissell and Elm Street for over 13 years, worked for International Harvester, was a part time auto parts delivery driver and was a bartender at Kay’s Tavern.
He is survived by his wife, the former Nancy Kohn, whom he married Oct. 4, 2007; daughter Bridget Boulton of Canton, Ohio; son Patrick (Anita) of Boardman, OH; sister Mary Aey of Canfield, Ohio; stepdaughter Chris (Bob) Jackson of Austintown; stepsons Rick (Kim) Varkonyi of Youngstown and Bill Varkonyi of Cleveland; brother-in-law Bill and Mae Kohn of Liberty Township; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Jarvis was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Ann M. Tyrrell, whom he married on June 21, 1958 and who passed away on June 5, 1995; and a brother-in-law, Richard Aey.
The family would life to extend their appreciation to Southern Care Hospice for the wonderful care exhibited to their husband and father.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
