I found your posting and was wondering if you had any additional info on Michael Stefanowicz. I am looking for a Michael that had a brother named Adam. Adam immigrated into the U.S. and arrived in the Port of Philadelphia on 12 January 1893. His age was 21 which would place his birth year about 1872. He had a brother Michael Stefanowicz who was then living at 48 Almond St., Philadelphia.

His brother Michael STEFANOWICZ arrived in Philadelphia on 2 June 1891. This is about a year and half before his younger brother Adam. His port of departure was Liverpool, England on the ship "Lord Gough". It is the same port and ship that Adam would use.

The brothers separated before November 1905, for Adam Stefanowicz married Jadwiga Kielbowicz and their was some kind of disagreement between the brothers.

If any of this sounds familiar please let me know. I would love to know waht happened to Michael and his descendants. Best regards, Carole

Chicago Lineage/Kashubian line

I am trying to trace the lineage of the Jarzabek's/Jarzombek's in Chicago, IL. and Milwaukee, WI.

Specifically August Jarzabek and Marianna Czajkowska. (I don't believe that they immigrated over to America from Prussia.)

Their son, Anton Jarzabek b. 1859 d. 1898, married Katherine Kalas in Chicago. I think some of Anton's relatives were Theodore, John, and August who also moved to Chicago.

Anton and Katherine's son, Anton, marries Pauline Zywicki from Milwaukee.

According to the Kashubian DNA project, both Jarzabek and Zywicki are Kashubian lines (by Gdansk in former Prussia).

I have the certificate of Marriage for Joseph and Mary (Stefanowicz) Jarzabek. Married January 20, 1913 @ St. Marys Church in Middletown, Connecticut.

Joeseph's parents are listed as:
John Jarzabek and Josepha (Sharb)

Mary's parents are listed as
Michael Stefanowicz and Agnes (Lappa)

_________

I also have Joseph's death certificate which shows he was born on April 6, 1888 (in Melicz, Poland) and died on June 8, 1942 (Middletown Ct)
It also states that his parents are John Jarzabek and Katherine Poluch. Both are from Melicz Poland.

Having two different names as Josephs mother confuses me.
Does anyone KNOW these names?
No direct link at this time to the Connecticut Jarzabeks

Margaret Floy Lee Jarzabek
RIVERSIDE JARZABEK, FLOY LEE Margaret Floy Lee Elrod was born in a sod home in the Sand Hills of Nebraska on July 10, 1918 and grew up working on her father's farm. Floy left her home during the Depression in 1933 and worked her way through school as a live-in maid, cook, and nanny. She graduated from high school in San Diego, and came to Riverside in the late 1930's where she attended Riverside City College while working. She met John Jarzabek, a Sergeant in the Army Air Force, in Riverside and they were married in 1940. Floy and John were living on base at Hickham Field near Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked on Dec. 7, 1941. Her husband fought in the Pacific War until 1944 when he was shipped home injured. During the war, Floy worked as a clerk for the military while raising their son, James (Jim), born in May, 1941. After the war, the family was stationed at several Air Force bases while having two more children, Nyoni (1947), and Dave (1950). John Jarzabek retired from the Air Force in 1954 and the family settled in Riverside, CA. Floy worked for 20 years as a secretary for the University of California at Riverside Agricultural Dept., and after her retirement she enjoyed leading photography field trips, oil painting, and vacations across the U.S. and in foreign countries. Floy was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1983, and by her daughter, Nyoni, in 2002. She is survived by her two sons, Jim and his wife, Teresa, Dave and his wife, Dianne, and two grandchildren, John and Katie Jarzabek. Floy dearly loved all her family, friends and her neighbors. Graveside services will be Monday, May 9, 10am, staging area #5 at the Riverside National Cemetery. Thank you.

Introduction
by Ada Holtzman
20 July 2003
http://www.zchor.org/bialystok/yizkor-j.htm

This list has been compiled from various sources. The main source is Yad Vashem "Hall of Names": Holocaust victims database based on computerized "Pages of Testimony" "Dapei Ed" - "YV"- See: Remembrance | Commemorating the Names | Eleventh Hour Collection Project

Partial List of the Holocaust Martyrs of Bialystok
First Name	SURNAME	Father Name	Mother Name	Year of Birth	Source

Abraham	JARZABEK	Meir	Sara	1926	"YV"

Chaim	JARZABEK	Meir	Sara	1934	"YV"

Fajwel	JARZABEK	Meir	Sara	-	"YV"

Meir	JARZABEK	-	-	-	"YV"

Sara	JARZABEK	-	-	1896	"YV"

Mormon Records of Headstones: Jarzabek
http://www.mytarg.net/Resources/E-Newletters/09&10-99PAR...

PARG REGION SURNAMES________________
° Jablonka, P (Surnames off headstones in the large cemetary there):
JARZABEK,

qote from site:
MORE ON THE AUGUST TRIP_____________
I was able to go through many of the PARG villages on my own while over
there. As I visited this area right after the ten-day tour led by Helene
Cincebeaux, it was late August. Unfortunately this is right before school
starts and also when most of the village priests (who generally teach
school) take their vacations! So getting in to see parish records was not as
successful as I had wished. This was especially discouraging for me in
Namestovo, SK. We did visit the Polish PARG towns of
Chocholow, Czarny Dunajec, Dzianisz and Witow
