Gertrude G. Bargielski Jasek, 92 of Erie passed away on Friday, March 12, 2010 at St. Mary's Home-East. She was born July 20, 1917 in Erie daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Teofil Bargielski. She worked at St. Luke's Hospital in Utica, N.Y. as a registered nurse. She was a 1936 graduate of St. Stanislaus High School, Erie, Pa. and a 1939 graduate of Ohio Valley General Hospital School of Nursing, McKeese Rocks, Pa. She served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Air Force during World War II. She was a member of the American Legion, Mercy Center of Aging, Whitesboro Senior Citizens and St. Mary's Senior Citizens. She enjoyed doing crafts. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Jasek, five sisters, Florence Bargielski, Emilie Bargielski, Theresa Pinczewski, Josephine Bille, Dorothy Nowakowski and three brothers, Casimir, Bernard and Chester Bargielski. Survivors include a son Michael J. Jasek of North Chili, N.Y., two grandchildren Gretchen Jasek of Texas, Kirsten Jasek Rysdahl and husband Calvin of California, two great-grandchildren Leanna and Annika Rysdahl both of California, a sister Louise (Lulu) Lyons and a brother Richard J. (Dick) Bargielski both of Erie. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, March 15, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church, corner of 13th & Wallace Street, Erie, PA 16503. Burial will be at St. Stanislaus and Casimir Cemetery in Whitesboro, N.Y. The Edward J. Garr Funeral Home, 459 East 12th Street, Erie, PA 16503 is in charge of arrangements.
