Looking for any information on Mary Surber (b 1861) who married William Riley Jasper (1857-1946). I am particularly interested in when they married, where they married and where she died. I think she died somewhere in Texas, but that is a big state.

I have a question. My mother's birth father's name was Benjamin Franklin Jasper. He was born in Michigan and died in Pulaski County, KY in 1982. Is there any connection here? What is the nationality of most Jaspers? I have a very English look (so I am often told), but I have been told that Jaspers are also German. Can you help me out a little bit.

Stuart

Thanks for replying to my post regarding Thomas Jasper born 24 Feb 1783 son of Walter Jasper and Eleanor Thomas in Llanvihangel Crucorney, Mounmouth,Wales.
I don't know if this is my ancestor or not. My great great great grandfather was Thomas Jasper, married to Eleanor Baker, who lived and died in Stourport, Worcester, England. According to his death record, he would have been born in about 1783. I have not been able to find his birth anywhere in Worcester.
The above Thomas born in Wales comes the closest, but I have no way to link them. My Thomas had a grandson named Walter who moved to Wales, but that is all I have. I was hoping you had some info regarding them.
So did your Thomas marry Joan Evans? I have seen that marriage in my research. I find a Thomas and then look for a marriage. If I find one, I know it isn't my Thomas.
If you come across anything interesting, my e-mail is sfife679@aol.com. Your personal e-mail came back.
Thanks for replying,
Shelley

Hi I think that your Thomas Jasper may be related to my great great grandfather who was also Thomas Jasper born at Raglan in 1782, they could well be cousins. The earliest Jasper I have found is a George Jasper who married Jane James in 1680 at Raglan, they had 3 sons who survived infancy but I am not able yet to make the link between them and my great great great grandfather also Thomas who was born at Raglan in 1742. my email address is sun-crystal60@yahoo.co.uk if you want to contact direct. xarifa Cooper

Heinrich,

I am speachless and so very grateful. I have been trying to find anything on Bernadina Jasper for decades now. She is my great grandmother. Her death certificate states that she was born 13 February 1851 in "Damen, Germany" and her parents were Bernard F. Jasper and Mary Heitkamp both born in Germany (informant being Bernadina's youngest daughter). Your information is consistent with the info on her death certificate. I had seen the passenger arrival record for 21 year old Dina Jasper who arrived Baltimore on 24 June 1872 and also wondered if it was the same person. Many vital records state her name as "Dina Jasper".

Could you please e-mail me privately so we can continue this discussion? Thank you so very much, Sharon.
Sharon, I can help you:

Johann Bernard Friedrich Jasper, born 5 February 1814 in Huede, died 10 April 1869 in Huede
married 23 April 1850 in Damme
Maria Elisabeth Heidkamp, born 9 November 1827 in Osterfeine, died 28 March 1863 in Huede

Children of this couple are:
Maria Bernardina, born 13 February 1851 in Huede
Bernard, born 9 November 1852 in Huede, died 4 August 1872 in Huede, unmarried
Friedrich, born 28 November 1854 in Huede, died 13 December 1856 in Huede
Bernard Heinrich, born 28 November 1857 in Hude, died 21 May 1880 in Huede, unmarried
Maria Anna, born 13 May 1860 in Huede

A Dina Jasper, 21 years old emigrated on board of the ship Ohio to the USA. The ship arrived 24 June 1872 in Baltimore. It may be that Dina Jasper is Maria Bernardina Jasper from Huede, but I´m not absolutely sure.

In 1879 Maria Anna Jasper emigrated to the USA. I found her on the passenger list of the ship Weser. The ship arrived in New York 9 September 1879. I´m sure that the 19 year old Maria Jasper on the passenger-list is Maria Anna Jasper from Huede because on the list is next to Maria Jasper another girl from Huede.

Huede is a small village, four miles away from Damme. Today roundabout 60 people are living in this village.

Best wishes from Germany

Heinrich Kessing
Duemmerlohausen/Germany
Thomas Jasper

My name is Thomas Keffer and I am looking for any information about the Jasper family, specifically, Thomas Jasper, who served in the Union army, company G in the 4th Ohio Cavalry, during the Civil War. He is buried in Holmes Cemetery, Greenup County, Kentucky. The headstone only relayed his name, rank, and company. I believe he was born around 1845, but factually, I have no birthdate/deathdate information on him, nor his wife, whom I believe was Sarah N Jasper (unknown maiden name). I am his daughter's daughter's grandson. Please help me find a big missing piece to my family.

wow! What a lot of work you have done. However, I am confused.I am looking at Thomas Jasper born Oct 2, 1689 died 1748. He married Ann Lewis in 1700.If my math is correct according to that would make him 11 when he married...and had 2 children by the time he was 18. The two children I can understand, but marrying at 11...have numbers been transposed or am I reading this wrong?
Thank you and hope you can help with my confusion.

I am researching the Patterson's from Arkansas. I have run across a Luther Jasper Starling Patterson. I thought it odd that he had so many names that thought perhaps they might have been last names carried down from his mother's side. I know that his parents were Gavin Patterson and Victoria Sharon. I am not sure if Sharon is a middle name or a last name. If anyone has any info on a Starling Jasper connection, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

I have a several Jasper descendants on my Family site.
You responded to my query looking for descendants of Lancelot Jasper. Our DNA project has shown the descendants of Lancelot and his son, John Lancelot Jasper to be directly associated with our Richard Jester b. 1632. I know John Lancelot Jasper had a son, Richard Jasper who was of the same era so our Richard could not be a son of John Lancelot. I think he must have been a son of one of John's brothers. Can you provide any help? Also, maybe you could give me your line?

Thanks,
Pat Friesen

My ex husband is descended from Herbert Jasper, born 1885, son of Richard Ginn Jasper. I have been unable to go back beyond Thomas of Cornwall. Jenny Wilton was the daughter of John Wilton and Elizabeth Harvey. John was the son of another John Wilton (wife Mary Marks) and he was the son of Samuel Wilton (wife Agnes Nile) I have more if you don't have them. They go back to Prime Wylton in the 15 hundreds.
