I am trying to find more info on Christian Jaztlau, immigrated in 1854 with the first Wendish colony from Germany to Texas on the ship Ben Nevis. Other records show he married a Magdalena Locke (or maybe Socke)who was also on the ship. The 1870 census has them with three children Ernst, Marie (my g-grandmother)and Charlie. I think there were other children in the family - I have a photo with seven girls that we think is Marie and her sisters.

Also wondering if Christian was in the Confederate Army - see record attached to my public tree "Domel/Hobratsch". Thanks, Lori Domel ldomel@aol.dom
