CHRISTIAN JAZTLAU, dau MARIE JAZTLAU KALMBACH

I am trying to find more info on Christian Jaztlau, immigrated in 1854 with the first Wendish colony from Germany to Texas on the ship Ben Nevis. Other records show he married a Magdalena Locke (or maybe Socke)who was also on the ship. The 1870 census has them with three children Ernst, Marie (my g-grandmother)and Charlie. I think there were other children in the family - I have a photo with seven girls that we think is Marie and her sisters.

Also wondering if Christian was in the Confederate Army - see record attached to my public tree "Domel/Hobratsch". Thanks, Lori Domel ldomel@aol.dom

Ok, we know the first Jatzlau in America was Christian he also brought along Hans and Maria. I believe Hans and Maria were his younger siblings, but I can find NO record of them once they left the port in Galveston. They all came over on the ship Ben Nevis, and Christin ended up settling around Serbin Texas. I have traced all of my family and the Jatzlaus around the Giddings area all to Christian and Magdalena Locke she was called Lena.I am hoping to find out what happened to Hans and Maria and also find out about Christians parents as well as his life before he came to the states.
