Louis David Jaycox, Sr., 60,
of 1604 Sunrise Lake Drive Granada Apts.,
passed away Friday, June 4, 2010 at his residence. He was born in Erie, Pa. September 11, 1949, son of Jerry Jaycox, Sr. and Ana Mae Mayhew Jaycox. A lifelong resident of Erie, he attended Academy High School and was retired from GAF Roofing Materials Company where he was retired after 34 years. He attended Shiloh Baptist Church in his youth and was a former member of St. Paul Baptist Church. Louis enjoyed watching football, basketball, baseball and western movies on television as well as collecting baseball cards. He was loved by his family and friends and will be dearly missed by them all. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jerry Jr., Anthony and Franklin Jaycox and a sister June Hargrove. He leaves to cherish his memory a son Louis David Jaycox, Jr.; three daughters Dawn Jaycox of Texas, Crystal Jaycox of Mich., and Quatisha Jaycox of Erie; his longtime companion, Rochelle Simmons of Erie; three brothers Thomas Jaycox of Newport, R.I., James Jaycox and wife Mary of Dyersburg, Tenn. and Jesse Jaycox of Erie; two sisters Gertrude Mitchell and Ana Mae Bush both of Erie; two grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Friends may visit with the family Thursday 5-8 p.m. at Law Funeral Home, 2926 Pine Ave. and are invited to attend a funeral service Friday 11 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church, 901 East 5th St. with Bishop Clifton McNair, III officiating and Minister Rebecca Jaycox Outlaw eulogizing. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery.
