The Rev. Julian Clifford Jaynes had three children by his second wife, Clara Bullard Jaynes: Robert, Helen, and Julian.

Helen died at age 52 in the fall of 1980. Robert suffered a stroke in 1992 and died in 1997. Julian died at the age of 77 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island in 1997.

It is my understanding that neither Helen, Robert, or Julian had children. I am not sure if Rev. Jaynes had any children from his first marriage.

Julian Jaynes is famous for his book, "The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind." For more on the biography of Rev. Jaynes and his children see "Julian Jaynes: Introducing His Life and Thought" in the book "Reflections on the Dawn of Consciousness."

Ha. My mom's name is Betty (Jo) Jaynes. I wonder if the Ohio Jaynes have any connections to the NC Jaynes? My gGrandad moved us here to Texas from NC late 18s I think. I also have McKinney ties from NC I am a direct decendant of Charlie McKinney - 4 wives and 48 children recorded. It is a long and winding road that crosses it's own path at times . . . . . .

Some Southern Jean families are descended from the Cornwall England Jane family

Recent dna testing reveals that some of the Jean/Jane family from TN, SC, NC and KY are descended from the same ancestor as the Jane family of St Cleer, Cornwall.

Those matching this family from Cornwall are descended from:

1)Wiley Jean, of Bedford County, TN (born NC)

2)James Thomas Gean (originally from Lincoln County, TN but moved to Wayne County)

3)Philip Geane/Jean of Chatham County, NC

4)Burrell Jane/Jean of Bute County NC - then to South Carolina

5) Unk Jean of Montgomery/Floyd County, KY.

The family from St. Cleer didn't immigrate to the US until the 1860's. Our common ancestor would be much earlier, as we can document all of the above men for a long time before that. We know Burrell, and Sherod were in Bute County, NC before and during the Revolution and Philip was in Chatham by 1772.

I will see what I can do to fix that.

Also I found your family in 1870, Charles must have been Charles Edward, he is listed as Charles Edward Jeanes, wife Harriet, Archibald is in the household, also the Samuel E, I listed before is a grandson, not son.

You are very welcome, we are trying to put the family "back" together.

I forgot there was also another line in Laurens, SC, I think Joseph Janes but I think they all left early on. There is info on both lines on the website I gave you. more on Burrell and his father Philip, probably.

Please look for every possible spelling, we've found them indexed over and over as Jones, Grane, etc..

I have emailed another researcher about your Charles.
Renee

It's been over a year since anything was added to this thread, so I hope this finds it's way to you. I'm not quite certain how this works. George Messer Janes was my gggrandfather. His son John Wesley Janes was my ggrandfather, Willis Lester Janes my grandfather, Pauline Janes Davis is my Mother. Mom tells me of visiting Slone - only she called him Uncle Jesse. I would love to see a picture of George - do you have one on a public family tree?
I have found your family history that you have posted most interesting, and am happy to add them to my records. Thank you very much!
I would be so interested to have any family history you would care to share. There are only a few of us "Janes' " that I know here in Southern California, but would be happy to fill in any blanks that I can.
Thank you for your time and your interesting stories.
Paula

Hello, My name is (was) also Jennifer Jaynes. I live in westland michigan. I did a family tree about 20 years ago and did not recognize any of the names you have however seeing as I do live in michigan I thought I would put this out there. My Father Randolph Jaynes is one of 14 children in his family.(mom=Dorothy dad=Louis, Sally, Diane, Pat, Carol, Judy, Randolph(Randy), David, Wayne, Robert(Bobby),Gregory(Greg), William(Billy),Martin(Marty), Theodore(Teddy),Thomas(Tommy) The all pretty much were raised in the metro Detroit area. If any of this sounds like it could match let me know, I would be happy to help.
**Also kinda funny, I was supposed to be a twin and her name was going to be Jessica, and I have a cousin named Mark Jaynes**

Rachael,
In Uncle "Grady's Book" are there any Jaynes from South Carolina? I am desperately looking for information on my grandmother's family. She was Jessie Marie Jaynes (b. 07 Apr 1887). Her parents were Archibald Robert Jaynes (Jeanes)(b. 21 Jun 1866) and Susan Wilson (b. 25 Dec 1867). Her grandparents were Charles Edward Jaynes (Jeanes) (b. 1820) and Harriett (b. 1837). Her father (Archies's) siblings were Mary (1858), John (1860), William (1862), Nannie (1873). I would so appreciate any information you or anyone else may have. Thankyou so much.
Cynthia Fennell Queen queencynthis@charter.net

My Grandmother was Jessie Marie Jaynes, daughter of Archie Jaynes and Susan Wilson. She had one sister, Willie who married Walter Jenkins. She married James Knox Fennell son of Frances Louise Dendy and John Lawton Fennell, Jr. Archie was a policeman in Anderson County. He was born in Belton, S.C.
I am desparately trying to find information on my grandmother. All I have is what I have listed here.
