Yes, Eliza Jeansonne m 11-29-1887 to Thomas Orphilia Guillot at St Paul The Apostle Church, Mansura LA. They had 3 children I know; Adras, b. 10-3-1888, Bpts. 12-2-1888; Euphemie Guillot, b. 12-13-1890, Bpts. 1-18-1891 and Mary Hattle Guillot, b. 9-16-1893, Bpts 11-1-1893, all were Bpts. at St Paul's. Their father was listed as Orphilia and not Thomas! All information was taken from St Paul the Apostle Church Baptism Book 9. I hope this info helps.

Hello. I wonder if you have any information on a Thomas C. Jeansonne who was born c1800 (plus or minus 10 years). He was probably born in Louisiana [maybe Opelousas] and may have married first Olive Perkins on 21 Aug 1828 in Opelousisa, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. He married second Eliza Steen on 20 Sept 1836 in St. Landry Parish. Eliza and Thomas had one daughter, Mary War Nan Johnson [Jeansonne]. Mary was born 9 Mar 1838 in either New Iberia or Grand Coteau, St. Landry Parish.

Thomas may have been a doctor as our family history has it that Eliza married a "Dr. Johnson."

We are looking for any information on Thomas - date of birth/death, location of birth/death, parents/siblings name, etc.

Thanks - Toni

 Hi Joyce,

I have very litle information on my mother's side of the family. Gustave Jeansonne and Maria Ella Chenevert are my Grandparents. According to my records Gustave's Father and Mother are Louis Jeansonne and Atilisia Firmin. I think Gustave had two sisters, Lottie and Lodo. Lottie married a Dozier and Lodo married Joseph B. Chenevert. Joseph is the brother of my Grandmother Maria Ella Chenevert.

Children of Gustave Jeasonne and Maria Ella Chenevert:
Clarence B:abt.1898, Spouse:Ona Barr
Irene B:abt.1901, Spouses:Nedos Orgeron & Amos Nelams
Lena B:3-22-1908, Spouse:Gaston Paul Naquin
Gladys B:1-23-1912, Spouse:Johnny Langlois, 10 Children
Lona Mae B:5-2-1919, Spouse:Avner Ryder
Elsie Mae B:5-6-1922, Spouse: Amos Davis & Harold Gibson
Marcelin (Choe) B:abt. 1904, Spouse: Angelle Boudreaux

My mother and father are Johnny Langlois and Gladys Jeansonne.

I didn't have much information on my mother's brothers and sisters and I only heard of your father as Uncle Choe.
I have some information on their children and grandchildren also.

Your help obtaining information on the Jeansonne family would be a big help.

I use Family Tree Maker software. I presently have about 74,000 names in my family tree which are mostly on the Langlois side of the family.

You can e-mail me at duece812@ellsouth.net.

I live in Abita Springs, La. and work in Mandeville, La.

Thanks in Advance,
Judy Lorraine Langlois Carrier

Re: Shooting in Cottonport, LA

my grandfather Adolph Jeansonne was sheriff in Bunky during that period and time. However, he was not killed in a shooting---where did you get the info on this? My grandfather shoot a number of people via his duty, or it was considered "duty" then. One story I recall as a girl, and later told to me again by my father was the treatment of blacks by sheriff and others. During a trip thru Cottenport and Marksville during 1982, my father pointed out an old train depot (still standing, yet no longer really used) where my grandfater caught two black men who had entered the storage area one night to steal, he shoot them on site. Today, that would bring public outcry, and of course he would be charged himself---back in those days, as I was told was the way it was. You shoot them on site. Terrible. Could this be related to your story of search?
nancy Jeansonne

Carricutt, 38, a carpenter, paid the last penalty in Averielles parish jail here today for having slain his wife last April at their home near Bunkie.

He was hanged on a scaffold he had painted several days ago and went to his death calmly, although he had almost collapsed early in the day. He told two priests who accompanied him that he had repented and believed he was saved.
Neuville Jeansonne

Until tonight, I thought that my 2nd great-grandfather, Hanna Jeansonne (AKA Arner, Armer, Hunter, Annas) (b. c1872 probably Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana) was the son of Neuville Jeansonne and Rosaline Laborde.
However, a son by any name close to this is not listed with Rosaline Jeansonne in the 1880 census (Neuville must have died previously).
There is a son who's the right age with a different name, though, Neuville, the same name as his (recently departed) father.
Can anyone shed any light on this, or does any of this sound familiar?

Thanks,
Morgan

I have a good bit of info on the Jeansonne family. From the info you put on the message board I can tell you that Francis Villeneuve Jeansonne was born on January 14, 1869 to Auguste Louis Jeansonne & his 2nd wife Celine Fruge. They had 8 children together. If I can help you any further contact me @ d_fuse!bellsouth.net.

Donald Fuselier
