Polly Jeff born 1808 VA, USA

I am looking for any information on Polly Jeff born about 1808 in VA had a daughter out of wedlock in 1866 named Mary Jane "Minerva" Jeff and then Polly was listed on 1870 Census for Wayne, KY, USA living with her daughter and her daughters husband and children. Polly at that time was listed as "idiotic" and she died in KY 1878. Does anyone know anything about this Polly Jeff? Also, this may be a different Jeff family but I noticed a Jane Jeff born about 1805 on the 1870 Census for Wayne county, KY as well and she too was listed as idiotic. Possibly sisters?

JEFF - Lambeth, Surrey, England

Anyone researching the surname Jeff in Lambeth? My great-great grandmother married Thomas Jeff (at least I think she did, can't find the reference in the English indexes) and had 6 or 7 children. Kids were born 1866-1882 or thereabouts. Her name was Mary Message Oliver (Message her middle name), b. Dallington, Sussex in 1844, daughter of Stephen Carly Oliver and Hannah Hollands. I have Thomas Jeff's death certificate, but not much else. He was a domestic carman. The 1881 shows a few other Jeffs in the area - Thomas b. Guildhall, Surrey ca 1839. Diana, Canada.

Brenda, we might have a connection. Mary Message Oliver and Thomas Jeff had a daughter Elizabeth c. ca 1875, Norwood, Surrey, according to the 1881 and 1891 censuses. Does this fit with your dates? I have nothing further on Elizabeth.
Diana dhbailey@sympatico.ca

Jonathan Jeff died 1795 of Denston and Mildenhall Suffolk

JONATHAN JEFF died 1795

Jonathan Jeff was a blacksmith who married three times, outliving all three of his wives. His first marriage was to Ann Chinnery on 31.1.1747 in Westerley Waterless in Cambridgeshire. On 10.6.1751, his second marriage is recorded in the parish registers of Denston, Suffolk as "Jonathan Jeff (widower) married Elizabeth Last of Mildenhall." Jonathan Jeff moved to Mildenhall with his second wife, remaining there for the rest of his life. Three children are recorded from this marriage, only one surviving infancy. Elizabeth herself died in 1762, the parish registers noting the burial on 12 August of "Elizabeth, wife of Jonathan Jeff." A few weeks later, his son, named after him was also buried. Jonathan Jeff married for the third time three years later. His third wife was Elizabeth Branch, the daughter of William Branch. Elizabeth died in 1783. Jonathan survived her by another 12 years. He was buried in Mildenhall on 3.1.1795.
The one I am looking for lived in Cleveland Cuyahoga in 1920 with Aaron and Ida Jeff and was an in-law to one of them.He emigrated to America in 1912 from what was then Russia and was born in Russia approx 1895. He was of Jewish decent. Does this help?
