You are correct, Madison Hemings does claim descent from Thomas Jefferson in a Pike Co., Ohio newspaper article, however Eston (his brother and whose descendant was tested), DID NOT claim descent from Thomas but "a Jefferson uncle or nephew." Of course several of Madison's and the abolitionist reporter's claims are false or highly suspect. One main claim that Madison was named for Dolley Madison's husband, "while she was visiting Monticello at his birth", is INCORRECT.......the Madisons NEVER visited Virginia from Washington during the winter, which was his birth, Jan. 19,1805.
I am assuming that you may be a Madison Hemings descendant, (correct me if I am wrong), thus you must be aware that the Hemings descendants REFUSE to DNA test Madison's son, William, in a cemetery in Leavenworth, Kansas. What are they afraid of? Without this DNA there is no proof that Madison and Eston had the same fathers.
