INSTANTLY KILLED.
Run Over by an Electric Car While Going to a Drug Store.
Mrs. C. C. JEHU, residing at Sixteenth street and "L" road, Kansas City, Kas., was run over and killed by an east bound electric car a short distance from her residence about 10 o'clock last night. Mrs. JEHU started from her home to go to a drug store at the corner of Thirteenth street to make some purchases. The walking between the rails was better than on the sidewalks, and she chose that route. When near Fifteenth street she saw a car approaching and stepped on to the other track to let it pass, just in time to be struck by an east bound car coming from Chelsea park.
She was thrown down and dragged for a distance of over 200 feet before Motorman HUBBARD succeeded in stopping the car. She was dead when picked up and her body was badly mutilated.
Mrs. JEHU was 37 years old and was the wife of D. B. JEHU, who conducts a grocery store at Sixteenth and the "L" road. She had one child 6 years old.
An inquest will be held this morning, after which the body will be sent to Stafford, Kas., for burial.
(I have no connection with this family.)
