Thanks for the reply. The Sim(m)ons were also from Pitstone and it was spelled Symonds.

I also have the surname Collyer marrying into the Simmons:
Ethelred Collyer married Rachel Simmons on 3 Aug 1838
William Collyer married 29 June 1836.

It looks as if our families are indeed related. Would like to share more information with you, if you wish.
