I am looking for Joe and Elaine Jenkins. They were friends of my family (the Bailey's) in 1962-63. We lived in Fredericksburg VA at the time. I was named after Elaine. They were of great help to my family when we were young and we would like to reconnect with them. If you should know of them or may be a family member and may have information about them please contact me. just.fourus@yahoo.com
All I know is that Elaine was a nurse. They lived in a home on the water at Colonial Beach. My brother and father went there to visit with them as well as them coming to our home to visit us.

My name is Terry Rolan. My Grandmother was Dora Bradshaw. She was the Daughter of John Bradshaw (Isler) and Mattie Jenkins. Mattie was the daughter of LeRoy Jenkins. I have previously obtained the service record for L.N. Jenkins from the National Archives in Washington, DC. I don't have all my information handy at the moment, but he enlisted May 12, 1862 in Thomaston, Ga. He was wounded in the leg during 2nd Manassas ( Bull Run) and filed for a pention from the Federal Govt in 1917. I have a copy of his application which included the details of his military service. I can share what I have if you need it. Email me and I will provide my contact information.

A correction to my original email posting, which I just found doing a search for James Henry. I've since learned that James Henry Jenkins was one of the SONS that was born in New York. Another history that I found was this he was born at Saratoga, New York, possibly Hadley. Some of the other brothers were born in Gennessee County, New York. Apparently I have to find this brother to find the information on his brother William Stephenson Jenkins, born 1814. Thanks

Native American Jenkins - Rogers Connections

I descend from a Rogers family (Prudence Rogers is as far back as I've been able to go - she was probably born around 1730). They were in Cumberland County, VA through the mid 1700s and then in Campbell County, VA late 1700s. Some moved on to Henry County, VA and then on to varied destinations. There seems to be a connection with the Jenkins families in these two counties as they seem to move together. And, I've seen marriage records in Campbell where people with Jenkins names had Rogers as their middle names. These families were all "mulatto" of some sort - mixed white, Native and whatever else. Have any of you seen Rogers show up in your Jenkins lines especially around 1800 ?
