I was curious who your grandfather might have been. Was it possibly Henry Carter "Speedy" Jennelle? Leeo? Harold Wilburn "Pete"? James Horace "Jake"? Colon Burke "Burke"? or Myron Mizelle "Mike"?
Obviously you are not a descendent of Thomas Malcolm "Slick" or of Anna aka "Ann."
I do not know if you are still at this same email address.
Friends of mine are "Sons of Slick." I have gotten some helpful information from a descendent of "Uncle Mike." Are you still looking for information? Have you been able to gather much information so far?
Your great-grandparents must be James Henry Journell and Verna Estelle Brotherton. Did you have the privilege of knowing them? Or were they gone before your time? I do not know their death dates, only their dates of birth and marriage.
Sorry, I just read further on in the thread. Was your grandfather "Uncle Pete"? Born: June 23, 1895, died: March 7, 1962 at age 66?
That was the same year my grandpa that I loved so dearly died. I was in kindergarten, and I still miss him. I miss the special things about him that made me feel good about myself...like the self-confidence and unconditional love that he gave me.
I remember my friends Jack and Benny Jennelle who grew up in the hollar around Mullens, WV mentioning Uncle Pete. Do you know was he born in VA? Was he born in Parisburgh?
And did you say he was married to Florence Fletcher? If so, that is a piece of the puzzle I don't have yet. And the following missing pieces of the puzzle would then be that they had a son named George who had a daughter named Cindy? Is that correct? Or am I jumping to conclusions?
It would be great to hear from you. I love Genealogy. It gets my heart pumping! The Journell/Jennelle Family Tree fascinates me more all the time.
