Hi Barb, I am a descendant of Nora Wingler Combs, side of my gg grandfather Floyd Combs, of Smyth and/or Grayson County, Va. Nora's family had previously moved to Taylor Co, Ky. Two of Nora's sister married men by the name of Combs, Coomes, Comer or some variation of Combs. I believe it was Nora's sister, Ollie Wingler, that married Hunt Combs. I think it was Nora's sister, Edra Wingler, that married a Comer. At least one, of Nora's sisters lived in Va also.
I am curious to know if you are aware of any connection in your Comer line to my Combs/Comer/Wingler side. Any info will be greatly appreciated. I am so anxious to learn about my ancestors, but I am still somewhat confused about the WHEN Thomas Sherman Wingler and his family moved to Ky, because he and his wife, Tempy Emaline Patrick Wingler were both born in Wilkes, NC, if I'm not mistaken. Do any of these names sound familiar at all?
Sincerely,
Connie

P.S. The surname Cash sounded vaguely familiar to me, most likely from my Combs searches. That is why I viewed your thread in the first place. Thank you.

Hi
I am interested in obtaining information on Julian Jennelle and family. This is my husband's grandfather. He lived in Walkers Creek, Giles Co. Va. He and his wife Ersie Fannie died young during the flu epidemic in the 1920's. I can find no information on his parents but I did find he had two brothers Alden D. Jennelle and Robert E. Jennelle. I can't find him listed except for the 1910 and 1920 census, nothing before or after. Can anyone help?

My grandparents are Walter Calvin Jennelle and Virginia Ellen Delp Jennelle---As far as I know he was raised in Christiansburg Virginia all his life, he worked as a Plumbing and Heat/Air Man. My grandmother was a nurse in Montgomery County. Both are deceased. My father is Eugene Allen Jennelle and his brothers are Michael Stephen and Larry Craig Jennelle, they are both still alive and live in the old home there in Christiansburg.
There are many ways to spell Jennelle...so good luck pinning one kind down, most of us are related. As far as I can tell they started breakingdown the spelling about Civil War time or just a bit sooner.....some are Journell, Jennell, Jenele, Jurnell. There is a Jennelle Cementary in Blacksburg on Jennelle Road--on Yellow Sulfur Springs Road......I have been there a couple of times......
I will do my best to help you, let me know if you think I have info......I will forward anything that I or my parents know....we have a book full of stuff.....
Thanks for asking
Hope we can hook up
Genei`

My understanding is that the Jennelle family, my grandfather dropped the "e" at the end, was from France and came to America around 1798.I would have to check my records on the exact date.Originally the spelling was Journell or Journelle.Over time it has changed spelling.I attended a family reunion in Blacksburg, Va. in late 1994 and obtained a great deal of information. As far as i know, all spellings, jennell, jennelle, journell, journelle, and from civil war records the spelling janelle are all of the same origin. We have extensive records here in Va, most of which were documented during confederate infantry and cavalry rosters.E-mail me and i will try to give you some more information. My PC is down right now, but in a week or so it should be able to accept E-mail.You can of course E-mail me at this address as well.

I am a Jennelle I now live in Georgia but was born in Montgomery County Virginia, Blacksburg is the town I grew up in. There was a Calvin Jennelle living in Christiansburg and I feel if you look in the Montgomery County Phone Book for a Mike Jennelle you would find Calvin. I also think if you would get in touch with a Leonard Jennelle who is doing our ancestory in Blacksburg he could enlighten you some he is the care taker of the Cemetary Plot located on Jennelle Road. I wish you luck. Maybe we are a kin to one another. E mail me if I can help further. God Bless Diane

Trying to locate any information on Phyllis Jennelle. She was married twice and died quite young. Her parents were Morris and Mildred. Morris was a plumber and owned his own business. Mildred was a nurse. Phyllis was the youngest of 4 children, Garneth (wf. Esther) both deceased, Adelaide, alive, refuses to give info or help even with medical history; Morris Jr. deceased and Phyllis born 1916-1918. Unable to find any info. on her marriages. I believe they were in Detroit or Tri-County area. She also had 2 children, a boy born around 1933-34 and a girl in 1935. The boy died as a teenager. Phyllis was a beauty operator and worked at the Lavender Salon in the Detroit area in the mid 30's and 40's. She was married to one man who was in law enforcement. Her daughter's name was Barbara Jennelle. At time of the daughters birth Phyllis lived on Buena Vista in Royal Oak and was 16 years old. All help will be gratefully received. Thank you.
