Hi Linda here is your Info also if you would to Yahoo and put in his name you well find a lot more Info. Look for a site called Organization.www.southfiledjayhawks.com The Info also will have a photo of him.

Probably the most ardent and well-known Jayhawker was Charles R. "Doc." Jennison originally from New York and a practicing medical doctor prior to the war.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These Info comes from The Letters of Charles Monroe Chase.

In passing Leavenworth we were strongly tempted to drop off and interview this old acquaitances of 1864. This is the home of Jennison, the Kansas Jayhawker, and of his associates. He was a strong slavery man in the'56 times, but when the rebellion broke out the Union side afforded the best opportunities for robbery, and he was nominally a Union man, but really a plunderer of Missiouri property. There are miles and miles of Missiouri thoroughfare on the border, on which Jennison and his men burned every house and in many instances slaughtered the people.
One old lady tells us her experience: Her husband had been reported a rebel by some of Jennison's men. In passing his house Jennison called him out, and, without much parleying, ordered his boys to string him up on his own piazza.
In spite of the woman's entreaties and crying, a rope was fastened to his neck, and, with the other end thrown over a beam, he was jerked several feet into the air. As his neck was not broken, he struggled violently for release, when Jennison ordered two of his mn to jump upon him and break his neck.
This was done, in the very face of his wife "and there" said she, "is the very beam where hey hung him" This is but one specimen of the numerous case of out-lawing perpetrated in those times.
END.
GOOD LUCK.

Dr. Charles R. Jennison was born in Jefferson County New York, June 6, 1834. When he was twelve years old he moved with his parents to Wisconsin, and at the age of nineteen years he began to study medicine. After completing his medical course he practiced for a short time in Wisconsin, then came to Kansas.

I looked into a lot of Info. for his wife Mary Hopkins but couldn't find anything sorry.
Dennis S.

Dear Evelyn,

That's a really good point, I always assumed Relief was a man because the spouse was Hopestill. But now that you mention it, virtue names were given to people sometimes regardless of of gender. I am not sure if Relief was a man or a woman. I only have their names and New Hampshire to work with. Thank you for mentioning this.

Tiffany

Jerry, My info shows that Robert Jennison Jenison was born in 1615 in Colchester,Essex,England. He died and was buried in Watertown,Middlesex,MA.7/4/1690.I'm not sure this is the same one you are talking about and I don't know the connection with France. This Robert married Grace? who was born abt. 1615 in Watertown, Middlesex MA. and died 11/26/1686. There is a large amount of info on these Jennisons on the Latter Day Saints site, except more recent times for Newell Jennison and his parents or Aunts and Uncles.Hope this helps. They lived in Methuen, Dracut, Lowell, Beverly, Chelmsford, Bilricka the larges majority live in Lowell. Then there are some buried in the Kennebunkport Cemetary in Maine some of them used to reside in Massachusetts. There is also a Jennison family that lives in Charlotte County Florida. I Hope this is of some help to you.

I'm looking for a Jennison or Jemison family living ca 1840 in the area of Rushford, Allegany Co. NY. Elizabeth Jennison was born 1824 in Genesse, (?County) NY. Her birthplace came from the 1855 census of Allegany Co. NY. She married James A. Haynes and moved to Fulton, Whitesides County, Illinois. Was Elizabeth part of the Seneca Indian "Jemison" family known to have lived in the Genesse County area?

Jennisons of Cincinatti

Gordon, I was referring to Ohio, however, my mother-in-law told me that her father-in-law had a sister(Clara?) who married a Jennison and lived in Cincinatti. I must admit that I assumed (I know, never do that) that it was Ohio as I had no idea there was one in Iowa. My mother-in-law probably doesn't either as she has about zero interest in the past. The woman I believe that I am following was born Clara Stafford in 1878 or'79 in Morrison, Ill. She had 3 older siblings who were born in Clinton,Iowa(then Lyons). I didn't realize that Jennison was an unusual name. I found a Clara Jennison in the SSDI and have sent for her records. Of course,I'm hoping that I've found the right one. If any of this info meshes with any of your Jennison research, let me know as I'm trying to trace decendents on my husbands side. (Stafford) Thanks for sharing with me. Linda

I too am LDS and found the name of Howard Jennison in Family Search. His address is 3001 Canterbury, Ponco City OK 74604-4413. I don't know how he is related, but he has sent in a lot on my Patton line. (Martin Luther Patton). Last submission was 1993. I have never received a regular letter from him and I can't find a e-mail for him. I did find one in the Social Security index that said he died in 1996. Not sure if that is him, but sounds like it. Hoping to find anyone else in his family who may be doing family history and see how they are connected.
The Jennisons (H. E.) I am looking for married an Emma Harriet Sheeks, who lived within 15 miles of Cincinnati. I almost overlooked your inquiry assuming that this was Ohio. I have a page of an 1876 Atlas of IA. It shows the town of Cincinnati in Appanoose County(South Central Iowa). Jennison is a very uncommon name, else I would not have bothered. This kind of problem I have encountered before.

Michael, I haven`t any idea where Robert Jenison was from in England. The information I have is Robert`s brother William was a partner of Richard Spitty of Grey`s Inn--London.
The information that was given me was indirectly given me from Eula Paris who lived in the 1800s and had compiled a genealogy report early in the 1900s. She had Robert Jennison born in France. This could be conflicting because the LDS site has Robert Jennisons father living in England in the late 1500s.
Jerry
