Hello -- I am trying to figure out the connection between the Barney family and Winston Churchill's mother. My father told me we were connected through his mother, but I cannot find the connection. The oldest person I can find is a George A. Barney born in 1863 or 1868 in Quebec Canada

I would also dearly love to have a copy of your photograph. Just this year I found out that I am related to Jennie through my maternal grandmother. I have a photo of Leonard but also having one of the wedding plaque would be an important addition to my family archives. Kudos to your son for capturing a moment in history that continues to have an impact on its decendents.

Thank you so much,
Barb Grenig Goszka

Frank,

Harriet Loomis (b. 1/29/1797) was Jesse's (b. 10/11/1780 Groton, CT) second wife. He first married Desire Rogers (b. 1/5/1781 Montville, CT) Dec. 16, 1804. Through his first marriage he had the following issue:
Emily Jerome (b. ~1808), m. Charles "Chas" Richards (b.~1800)
George D. Jerome (b.~1816), m. Hannah Darrow (b.~1812)

From his Second marriage, issue:
Harriet Jerome (b. ~1833)
Joseph Augustus Jerome (b. ~1835)
Elias L. Jerome (b. ~1836)
Francis Jerome (b. 1838)
Lucretia Jerome (b. ~1840)
Hannah Jerome (B. ~1841)

I am descended from neither marriage, but I trace Desire Rogers, Jesse's first wife, to be the daughter of Jehial Rogers (b. 1/3/1747 New London, CT) and his wife Amy Vibber (b. ~1750 Montville, CT). Daughter of Nathaniel Vibber (b. 2/6/1720 Montville, CT). Son of John Vibber (b. ~1689). I am of Nathaniel's line.

Jesse's father was Benjamin Jerome (1757-1824), a Revolutionary Soldier. See the following from from Lineage Book, Volume 17, Page 212.
"Benjamin Jerome, (1757-1824), enlisted in Capt. James Stoddard's company, Col. Noadiah Hooker's regiment of Connecticut militia for service at Peekskill, 1777. He was born in New York and died in New London, Conn."

This Benjamin Jerome was married to a Desire Brown.

I am not sure if you are looking for information on Harriet Loomis, but she was the daughter of Jacob Loomis (b. 6/19/1761, Montville, CT) and Selina M. Holmes. I have more on their descents as well, but much can be found in the "History of Montville" by H.A. Baker.

My son recently took a digital photo of a plaque signifying the wedding of Clarissa HALL and Leonard JEROME (maternal grandparents of Winston Churchill). This plaque is on the outside of a church in Palmyra, Wayne Co., NY.

Are there are any descendants who would like this photo e-mailed to them?

I have NOT resized the pic and don't want to as it is very clear and easily readable.

(FYI, I am not related to any of these families. My son was on a photography walk with his wife and some others and was fascinated by the plaque and the historical significance; he has his degree in history!)

Winston Churchill's mother Jennie Jerome was a descendant of Samuel Jerome (b. 1728); Samuel was the son of the immigrant Timothy Jerome, who is the ancestor of most Jeromes in the U.S.

I don't know where your Cyrus Jerome connects - i.e. whether he's a descendant of Samuel or one of Timothy's other sons - but it probably wouldn't be hard to trace him back through the census and other records.

I’m looking for the parents of Columbus JEROME who was born abt. 1830 in Kentucky his father was from France and mother was from Ireland according to the 1870 and 1880 TN census. After 10 years of searching I still have not found anything on his parents or what part of Kentucky Columbus JEROME was from.

I recently found a Sam’l JEROM and a Richard JEROM in Montgomery County in the 1840 census.

I also found a Hiram JEROME in Monroe County in 1840.

There is an O JEROME in Louisville in 1830 & 1840 but he doesn’t seem to fit.

There is a possibility that C. JEROME was in ST. Louis in 1850.

Columbus JEROME married Josephine MARONEY (MAROONEY) bef 1854 in KY (?)
Their first two children were born in KY (?)
By 1861 they were in Memphis TN

Does anyone have any kind of information on the JEROMEs or JEROMs in Kentucky ?
I have very vivid memories of going to visit my uncle Nelson Jerome in Essex..His wife was Mary Simpson...they had three daughters. He had a daughter, who took care of him in his elder years...until his death in Essex. His house is still standing (as a landmark farm) in Essex..and is currently for sale.
Nelson's Brother's name was Joseph Paul Jerome..I have his Father as George Jerome and mother listed as Phoebe Benway 1853-1935. Through family conversations and memories I'm 99% sure that the Benway name is tied to Jerome.

My great grandmother was Mary "Melinda" Jerome born Whitby, Ont in 1835 who married William Beacock. She was the daughter of ASAHEL JEROME and had a brother Phineas Jerome. I find listings of ASAHEL JEROME in both NY and CT., but don't know if it is the same one, born around 1800? I have also seen Chauncy Jerome in the Canadian Censuses at various times and wonder if this is another child of ASAHEL. Any help or if any of these names are in your research I would be ecstatic!
Linda Peterson

I have some info I can provide but my search has slowed up considerably, so I will have to extend my membership to world so I can get some Canadian records

A long shot, but I am wondering if any of you folks know whether the Jeromes in your research may have come from France (Alsace Lorraine)? My great grandmother is a Jerome from Alsace and she settled in the Buffalo area of NY.

Thanks for any info.

Ann B.
