PLATTSBURGH --- Margaret C. Jerry, 89, formerly of Court Street, died Thursday, July 19, 2001, at the CVPH Medical Center.
She was born in Churubusco on Sept. 21, 1911, the daughter of George and Agnes (Recore) Coopy.
Margaret was a social worker for social services from 1933 - 1939, attending the University of Buffalo on a scholarship from social services.
Mrs. Jerry was a member of St. John’s Church and a member of the Altar Rosary Society.
She was formerly involved with the Red Cross, Community Chest and several community organizations and services.
Margaret was an avid bridge player and golfer.
Survivors include one stepdaughter, Helen and Henri Mallet of Columbus, Ga.; one stepdaughter-in-law, Jocelyn "Lyn" Jerry of Albany; six grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; two nephews, Philip and Joyce Coopy of Florida and William and Mary Ann Coopy of Plattsburgh; and one niece, Mary Margaret and Don Johnston of Rouses Point.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harold A. Jerry; one stepson, Harold A. Jerry Jr.; one stepgrandson, Philip Jerry; two brothers, Victor Coopy and Lester Coopy; and two sisters, Anne May Coopy and Eleanor Coopy.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 1 p.m. at St. John’s Church. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Memorial Fund or Hospice of the North Country.
