David - I am most curious to know what you have to support a father named Capt. John Jersey. I show the parents of Richard and Henry (both died in Macomb Co, Michigan) as Richard and Isabelle (Palmer) Jersey who both also died in Macomb Co. Both the father and the sons had brothers named John. There are numerous repeats of the names Richard, Henry and John over the generations.
