Yes, but Elmer William Jersey's birthday is 4-24-1864 - he is my husband's grandfather - he died when my husband's father was a year old so we don't have the photos but I do have a picture of his gravestone marker and that's where I got his dob. You puzzled me with the number of children that Charles and Phoebe had. Could you give me some specifics? I have some but they don't correspond with yours. How are you related? Thanks, Bobbie in Tennessee
(jerseyb2@frontiernet.net)

David - I am most curious to know what you have to support a father named Capt. John Jersey. I show the parents of Richard and Henry (both died in Macomb Co, Michigan) as Richard and Isabelle (Palmer) Jersey who both also died in Macomb Co. Both the father and the sons had brothers named John. There are numerous repeats of the names Richard, Henry and John over the generations. Perhaps we are looking at different generations of the same line. Please contact me off board at rehpjh68@hotmail.com.
Thank you for your replies.
Unfortunately I have not had the time to work on the family tree due to time constraints but I was able to determine that Abram was the son of John Peter and Adeline Amanda. Seward m. Mary Brady 1886 and had 8 children. Edward Joseph Jersey, my husband's grandfather, was the fourth child b 1900.

If it's not a bother (I've had a heck of a time researching the surname Jersey because I get 90%+ via the internet on New Jersey) could you please post your query at:
http://genforum.genealogy.com/jersey/ It's a much higher traffic location and with a little luck it will get off the ground in the next year. I put in a request for this surname to be added there but it has taken over 6 months,.. now that it's there the site manager emailed me with a note that if the site is not used in the next 2 weeks or so the surname will be removed. I don't want to see that happen. I'm sure there has to be other people having the same problems with this name. See you there perhaps,.. Rebecca
stacknow@worldnet.att.net
(my gggg-grandmother was Catherine Jersey,.. about all I've learned is from her headstone that I found in Otsego Co., NY next to her husband, Jesse Dunham,... she d.Sept 16th, 1883 at 87 years old. I have not found one other Jersey in 7 of the surrounding cemeteries so I am completely clueless as to where she was born).

Please check out the new site.

If it's not too much trouble, please post another query at the following address:
http://genforum.genealogy.com/jersey/ , I too have been searching for Jersey surname information (except to no avail) because I constantly end up with stuff about "New Jersey",... Finally after 6 months, genforum has agreed to create a Jersey forum but the emailed me saying that if it doesn't get used in the next 2 weeks or so, it will be eliminated from the list. Since genforum has higher traffic for posts, it is my hope you will submit yours. Hopefully it will eventually take off.
,...

Will be searching for the answer but figured it can't hurt to ask someone here, in the meantime.

Wondering if anyone knows where Henry Elizabeth died and where they are buried.

Henry was Christened June 1735 in Tappan, Rockland, Co., NY; Elisabeth Ostorn, daughter of James, was born May 1732 in Tappan Rockland, Co., NY. Both died in Clinton (or at least, lived in Clinton), Dutchess Co., NY.

I can't find the dates of their death; nor do I really know where they died.

Any help, even if just a thought,... that could lead to a clue, would be appreciated.

I desc. from Henry Elizabeth's son, Henry, who was born in Clinton, Dutchess Co. and who died in Andes, Delaware Co., NY. Or, I should say,... "so it would appear at this point in time".

,...
Henry Jersey, born 1791 Dutchess Co., NY

I am looking for information that would show Henry Jersey had a brother named Richard. I have the adjoining land records for Henry and Richard in Macomb Co., Michigan. Richard was born 12 Oct 1797, married Sally Reed and came to Mi from Windham, Green Co., NY. I don't know Richard's parents, but think that since he and Henry came to the same area within 2 years of each other, that they may be brothers which would mean Richard's parents were Richard Jersey and Isabel Palmer. Can anyone help me link these two families?

McFadden-Kilburn

I have a pedigree chart drawn up by a member of the historical society of Beekmantown, NY, which shows, in part, the following:
Henry de Jersey married Elizabeth Osborn in 1762. They had three children: Richard Jersey, Catherine Jersey, and Capt. John Jersey. Capt. John Jersey married Ruth Northrup. Catherine Jersey married George McFadden. George McFadden was from Coothill, County Caven, Ireland. George McFadden's father was Samuel, his mother was Jennie Sharp. Catherine and George had Henri, Samuel, Thomas and John.
My family line runs from Capt. John Jersey and Ruth (Northrup) Jersey. Their son John m. Sarah Winter. Their son Henry J. m. Maria Frost. Henry and Maria had Martha J Jersey, who m Albert Godso. My grandfather Frederick Kilburn m. their dau, Edith Godso.
I am skeptical about the accuracy of the pedigree chart so I would like to confirm the names and dates of the various ancesters listed in it, especially the generations from Nicholas LaVarasseur (gen 1) thru Henry de Jersey and Elizabeth (Osborn) Jersey (gen 13). The chart begins with Nicholas La Varasseur (or La/Le Vavasseur from the Isle of Jersey. His son was Jean, who migrated to the Isle of Gurnsey in 1410. Somewhere along the line the name LaVarasseur (?) was changed to de Jersey, probably at Audrey LaVarasseur who settled in Devon Eng abt 1530. The chart suggests that the name of de Jersey was changed to Jersey at Henry Jersey who m. Eliz. Osborn. The pedigree chart lists 16 generations beginning with Nicholas LaVarasseur.
Do you have any information which I may use to confirm the info in the pedigree chart. I'm willing to share what I have. DN Kilburn
