I have an August Eduard Robert Jeschke from Marienwerder among my ancestors. He was born in Marienwerder 13 August 1844. Father: Heinrich Jeschke (born around 1814), mother: Marie or Anna Maria, born 1817 in Riesenburg, Westpreussen. I can see no connection to Gilwe, though. Are the two places far away from each other?
Kind regards
Sabine

Looking for his relatives. Born in 1921, died in August of 2000. According to info I've received, he was in the 5th Marine Division (Iwo Jima) during WWII, a captain in the 13th Regiment [artillery]. I think I may have some photos of him from his time on Hawaii, found among the photos my own father left. Another officer of the 5th Division thinks a couple of the photos are of Capt. Jeschke, and I would like to send copies to any relative who might recognize him for possible positive identification. Please contact me at shrew79109@yahoo.com if you are related and willing to help me with this.
Thanks,
Sarah

Hi, Paul my name is also Paul Jeschke, but I am from Tasmania which is a state of Australia. My grandfather Edward was born in 1875 and also came from West Prussia. As far as I am aware he came from a village called Gilwe about 80-100km south of Gdansk. It may be that around 1900, 1 or 2 of his brothers may have migrated to America. If you think there may be any connection please return my email so I can provide more details.

Regards

Paul Jeschke

Yes. I did learn that not to jump to conclusions. Look at the year. You are responding to 2000. I made a lot of mistakes. and they can't be undone. If so I'd like to delete them. I knew nothing then.
I guess I didn't even think like a genealogist that I was using speculation. The same goes for Heinzs researach I am doing I can speculate that Hoerston and Hohls are the uncles and aunts. But I can't say for sure. nor can I say Timme came first for sure.
I suppose I could try and track them all down and correct all my mistakes. And believe me I had a lot of stuff wrong when I first started. Also I realize that some stuff should have been put in private email. As I had put too much on using up valuable space. I would rather have them all removed to tell you the truth. Most of them are embarassing to me.

As for speculation that is how one gets the ideas. However, one should say they are speculations. When I asked a relative something they left out speculation and I missed some terribly important details that would have helped me find who and what I was looking for.
Yes I have learned. And am sorry for the trouble this caused you.

In case anybody is interested, there is an Albert Jeschke buried on the Fort Lewis Army land in Pierce County, Washington. It must be where their old homestead was at one time. There is a fence around his grave.
I can't remember what type of marker it has, but I wrote down the name and yr (on the grave stone) when I was out there a couple yrs ago. All it says is, " Albert Jeschke - 1896"
Contact me if you want pics and I'll go take pictures with my digital camera.

Penelope
Thank you for your relpy. The information information that I have suggests that my grandfather Edward Jeschke did have a brother named Augustus or Augusta. The name of Gottlieb is unknown to me, however this is not to say that he was not a member of the family. As far as I know Edward also came from a large family of 6 or more brothers and sisters. Edward apparently also had a brother named Frederick and a sister called Mary. His parents may have been named Henry and Eva Jeschke. Prior to marriage Eva may have been a Reschke. Any further information that you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Paul Jeschke

Joan--I can't believe what I am reading. Some of the things I told you were speculation and I read it on the message boards as though they were proven facts. Not aware that Gertrude EVER went to Germany. Her sister was Louise, NOT Florence and she only went to Germa y two times that I am aware of--not often. Their mother was Elizabeth, my grandmother. Your span of years is way off base. After reading several of these posted messages, I had to say something. Difficult enough to locate information but even harder when the facts are all mixed up and untrue.

I'm looking for information on Theodore Jeschke, or any of the following. There were 12 children, the younger went by Jeschke, the older by Jeszka. Ladislaus 1882-?, Joseph 1885-?, Anna 1886-?, Bronislaus 1888-?, Theodore 1890-1943, Leakadia (possibly Lillian) 1891-?, Peter 1893-?, Edward 1895-? Clara 1899-late 1960's. I have no information on the other 3 siblings. To my knowledge everyone was born and raised in Chicago, but the older siblings could have been Poland/Germany. I know Clara did marry and has children, but my uncle doesn't recall anything else. Theodore married Minnie Koster or Koester and had 4 children, Myrtle (my grandmother), Minnie, Russell and Kenneth.
