Michael Jeske born 1865 in Germany

Researching my family but hit a dead end. My great, great grandfather Michael emigrated to the US around 1892 along with his wife and approx. 1 year old son. Apparently the spelling of the last name changed around that time from Jeske to Yeski. His wife was Elizabeth (possible last name is Ewald), and their son was Frederick August Jeske. This branch of the family settled in Connecticut.

I'm stuck on making the connection to where they're from in Germany, so I can't research any farther back. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: JESKE - Albert R and Adel F

I'm looking for an Albert Jeske who moved to the American midwest in the early to mid 1930s. His brother - my great grandfather - was Reinhold Jeske. Reinhold's wife was Henriette (nee Wedmann). Reinhold moved to the Barrhead area with his two youngest sons in 1930. His wife came here in 1935 and his other two children (a son and a daughter) came here in 1951. Reinhold had a son named Albert and Albert (the son) had a wife named Adelgunde. Albert (Reinhold's brother) came to Barrhead with his family in 1960 to celebrate Reinhold and Henriette's 50th wedding anniversary. As far as I know, no one heard from Albert - the brother - again after this

I'm intrigued about your Albert and Adel. The similarities in names (Albert and Adel - Adelgunde???) makes me wonder if this is just a coincidence. Perhaps. I'd like to compare notes if you know of anyone to compare notes with.

My email address is nancymargrit@yahoo.ca
My ancestor Adolph Carl Jeske was born 3 Jul 1867 in Lonke and married Emma Koerth 26 Jan 1890 in Strelmo (Poznan Posen). Emma had a sister Ida Breeze.
Albert Jeske, b.1889, wife Anna Vick, b.abt 1898, lived Ramsey Co., MN & St. Croix Co., WI

I have an original studio photograph of “Albert and Anna Jeske”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in St. Paul (Ramsey Co.) MN, and he looks about age 35, while she looks about age 25.

I found Albert G. and Anna Jeske in the 1930 census for St. Paul, MN, showing his age 42, and hers as age 32, both born WI. He was married age 23, and she at age 16. Living with them was Albert’s brother in law, Albert E. Vick, 19. In the 1920 Wisconsin census for St. Croix Co., I found Albert G. Jeske, age 30, and Anna A. Jeske, age 22. Living in St. Croix Co. in 1920 were also the Vick family, with parents Theodor and Bertha, with son Albert, age 8.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Albert and Anna Jeske.

My family came from Lodz, Kolo, and Nowa Wies Wielka in central Poland. I have managed to trace back to Peter Jeske b: 1755 and his wife Elizabeth Kelm (parents of Johann Jeske married to Anna Fietz). Do you have any further information?

Family of August and Wilhelmine Jeske of Shawano, Wisconsin

In the IGI there is an extensive set of entries on the descendants of August and Wilhelmine (Streck) Jeske, who came from Neu Stettin, Pommern, Prussia to Wisconsin, and lived in Milwaukee, Shawano, and Ashland Counties. Their children were Albertine Ernestine (b.1847), August (b. 1849), Carl Friedrich Albert (b. 1851), Wilhelm (b. 1854), Auguste (b. 1857), Mathilda Amelia Auguste (b. 1861), Wilhelmine Alvina (b. 1864), and Ida E. A. (b. 1867), all born in Neu Stettin.

Does anyone know who posted these entries? I would like to know if they have more information on the descendants of Mathilda Amelia Auguste Jeske and her husband John Friedrich Ebert.
Yes I would like that but i'm afraid she may not talk to me. But I would appreciate you asking her. Misty & Raymond Karl's father Gerald McCarver was my grandfather. I know that he was not a very good person and that he hurt alot of people in his lifetime. My interest in talking to her or the children are stickly for the fact I am researching the McCarver family tree. I have a great deal of information on the McCarvers and it may be of some interest to his children. Please let me know what she says.

Thank you very much.
Tracy

Angela,

My g g grandfather was Herman Jeske, from Wisconsin. Married Bertha Hagen, also from Wisconsin (Appleton, I think) Have you any other info on Jeske's of Wisonsin? The only dates I would have would coincide with the dates you mentioned. They married, had a son, Reno Herman Jeske, and a daughter, Helen Amalia (my grandmother)b.1897, then moved to L.A.California before the baby, Walter Jeske was born. Anything sound familiar here?

Please let me know...haydonna@msn.com
Need information re: John Fred (Friedrich) Jeske

I am looking for information regarding the life and career of John Fred Jeske (birth name: Friedrich). He was born on May 7, 1890 in Skierniewice, Poland (then a part of Russia: His father's name was Ludwig Jeske) and emigrated to the US in 1912. Prior to coming to the US he had been living in Herrenwyck, Germany. John Jeske lived first in Scranton, PA with his brothers Karl, Gustave, and Julius (along with Julius' wife Christina and children Carrie and Julius Jr.) at 1624 Pittston Street. By 1920 John was living in Los Angeles, CA and working as a taxi driver. From 1923 until 1933 he worked for silent film actor Lon Chaney as a chauffeur. He married once that I know of to Grace Elaine Buda in June of 1934. They were divorced in April of 1935, and there were no children. John died of an apparent heart attack at his home at 1016 N. Laurel Ave., West Hollywood on May 10, 1944. I am trying to locate more information about John's life and career--especially for the gaps in information prior to 1923 and after 1933. I would especially appreciate it if family members from Pennsylvania or elsewhere could contact me. I am in the process of putting together either an article or full length book about John Jeske. Thank you very much!
