I was born in Hazard Ky. My mom divorced when I was one. I have a father named Sim Jett and he's 55. my mom said his father's was Ford Jett. and his father was Sim Jett. My name is Jennifer Jett. Maybe we're related. I know absolutely nobody on that side. They don't care me obvisously. Or I would know someone.

I am married into the decendents of Issac and Sarah Bird Jones Jett. My husband and father in law are related by Jett to Haptonstall to Hendrix/Hendricks. How can we contact you? I also can get pictures and rubbings from the cemetary where Issac & Sarah Bird are buried, this is where my husband's family lives. Which Joseph H. Jett are we talking about? The Joseph H. Jett that was the son of John Jett and Nancy Avery was born 1815-1820 in Warren Co., KY and Married Alzonia Light in 1833 in Blount Co., Ala. (Although on the 1850 Census for Blount Co., Al. she is listed as Elizabeth) Or there is a Joseph Hankerson Jett, that married Winnie Tiffin. I would love to hear from someone that has a first hand knowledge of this family. I am guessing that they came from Kentucky and settled in Alabama around 1830, just when Alabama was being settled.

My great great grandparents were William and Arabella Williams Vaughan. They lived in Franklin, Gasconade and Pulaski Counties in MO. The 1870 census of Canaan Township, Gasconade County, MO shows that two young women, Sarah Murphy and Sarah Branson, were living with them but there is no indication of what their relationship to them might be. Thinking that I might be able to learn more about William's parents by chasing down these two, I began trying to identify them. Very soon my Branson search lead me to a lot of Jetts:

I realize your post is ten years old, and you may already have it all figured out. I have a little information on the Vaughan family as William R. Vaughan's sister, Nancy Cordelia, who married Joseph Thomas Reynolds, whose mother was a Palmer. The Palmer/Kerr family married Jetts and Bransons and there are a great many of them in Osage and Gasconade Co., Missouri.

I have the obituary of Nancy Cordelia Vaughan Reynolds (and also her husband). It does not name parents, but I believe they may be listed on the 1850 census for Osage Co.

I will not go into detail here because I want to wait to hear from you. You may answer here or my email is twalker@iland.net.

I found an old post regarding an Alfred Jett, son of Joseph Jasper Jett and Mary Jane Simpson of Osage Co., Missouri. Joseph Jasper Jett was my great-grandfather, and there was no Alfred amongst his children. There was an Albert F. Jett, born abt 1863, who is shown only on the 1870 census. He is on neither the 1876 Agriculture Census nor is he found on the 1880 census. If you could enlighten me on this man you have listed as Alfred, son of Joseph Jasper Jett, I would really appreciate it. It could be the Albert listed in 1870, whom we had assumed died in infancy. Can you tell me where you found this information? I look forward to hearing from you soon.

I checked my records. I show Thomas Owens married to Sarah/Sally Pointer. Thomas was the son of Elizabeth Owens Jett and her first husband William Owens. Thomas and Sally's son James married Amanda Hassler. Their son, James Henry Owens, married Susan Jett on 13 September 1890 in Osage Co., Missouri. After the death of Susan Jett Owens in childbirth, James Henry married Bertha, called Birdie, Jett. Susan Jett was the daughter of James Monroe Jett, Jr. and Elizabeth Owens (dau. of the second wife of James, Sr.). Bertha Mae Jett was the daughter of Stephen Haligan Jett and Luesty Price. Stephen H. Jett was the grandson of James Sr. and his first wife, also an Elizabeth Owens. I show 10 children born to James and Bertha Jett Owens. Are you really confused now? I am!! I am trying to locate a Lorene Bridges who passed on some info regarding a Jesse Jett from Westmoreland Co. 1745 and his sons, particularly a Jesse Jett Jr. who may be his son born around 1776 (maybe born in Culpeper, VA.). Jesse Jett Jr. married Nancy Ann Chandler Dec 24 1804 in Culpeper, VA. There are numerous family members and researchers trying to determine who his mother and father were. A growing theory leans toward Francis and Barsheba Jett being his father or grandfather given where Jesse Jett settled in Spotsylvania County. I am not sure. I have seen several people reference you as having information on Jesse Sr and Jesse Jr., if you do would you please contact me at gwoycik@aol.com. Thanks so much.

In your post on almost the very last line you mentioned Pointer/Owens marriages in Osage/Gasconade county. (I am also in Missouri) I am related to one of those marriages and am looking for some missing information. Thought maybe you might know. I'm looking for the part of the line with -
James Owens married Sally Pointer in 1857, had son James Henry Owens who married ????? and had Stella Owens. ????? died 2 weeks after Stella's birth. James Henry Owens then married Bertha Jett. Any help would be appreciated. Stella was my gg grandmother. She married Alfred Micke.

I received another reply several days after yours and the lady stated that a one time there was two Jett Cemeteries in Bond County. One was moved to the Mt. Moriah Cemetery and the other one is North of Greenville, Il.
I live in Texas so most of my research information is from the net and looking at maps.

Do you have or know of anyone that have a list of burials in your Jett family cemeteries?

Charles Henry Jett Family/ Rosemary Wright Family

Charles Henry Jett, die in Oct 1979 in Joplin Missouri, when he died he was married to Virginia Burden Mayo. I have found where they got married at age 42. Born 1923 in Bethel Kansas on Sept. 18th.

Also his brothers are Roy Jett - Kansas City KS, and Marvin Jett -, LaCygne Kansas as of 1979
Sisters: Josephine Pack - Turner KS, Joann Harding - Kansas city KS, Bertha Marcus - Kansas city MO. as of 1979

Family listed in his obit are: Sons: Eugene and Douglas. Daughters: Kathy Jo Thaxton, Dixie Layne, Charlene Jett.

Charles was married to a Rosemary Wright in the 1940's, I think. They had 3 children of which they gave up for adoption. One was my Mother who was born in Houston Harris County, Dec 20,1947 Linda Fay Jett. I am Linda's daughter looking for her/ my family.

I have in my database a John W., born 1787, married Elizabeth Settle, with son James M. (Madison?, plus 6 more sons and 3 daughters. John's parents were William, b. 1764, d. 23 Apr 1851 in Fauquier Co., VA, and Sybil Unknown. John was also married to Judith Settle.

Perhaps Bob Kamman will contact you - I believe William is his ancestor and he has a lot of info on him.

My grandmother was Shirley Carey Harding. I think she was Minor Jett's granddaughter. Her mother, who i suppose was Minor's daughter, died while she was a baby. Any info you find on her would be much appreciated.
