Sorry I can't help. I was searching for an Onesime Jette that I thought was a direct descendant. The data fell through- wrong dates,wrong place,wrong person. This Jette came from the Iberville,PQ area. I wish I could have helped.

Sorry. I can't help. I had been searching for an Onesime Jette who married a Narcisse Dubois c. 1850 in PQ. However, later investigations proved that my Narcisse was married to another woman in northwestern NY around the same time frame.

I wish that I could help you in your search. Last year I discovered that my maternal line was not connected to the Jette name. I was looking for an Onesime Jette who had married a Narcisse Dubois in the Iberville,PQ area.I later discovered that the male name in my mother's line was Nelson Dubois and he had married an Adella Breault in upper-state NY. Nelson seemingly had no connection to Iberville or the surrounding parishes. As far as I can determine, Nelson and Narcisse were not related. The Jette connection turned out to be a dead end. Sorry. I wish that I could have been of nore assistance.

About a year ago I had posted a query about an Onesime Jette whom I thought was my maternal gr-grandmother. Further investigation led in another direction. Unfortunately,I don't believe that I have any Jettes in my ancestral line.

My great grandmother was Rosanna Ashton Garrett, born 1865 to Baptiste (John) and Julia Ashton of Quebec Canada. Rosanna had 12 children and in the obituary of the third child, James, she is listed as Roasanna (Jette) Garrett. This would be the same family, but I have no further information on the parents. Hope this helps

There was no Native ancestry in that branch of the family, up to that point.

As for Marie Gobeil, her parents were Etienne and Marguerite Belanger.

Thank you for your reply. I had erroneously thought that the widower of Onesime Jette had later married my maternal gr-grandmother. I have now found evidence that this is not the case. Sorry to have misled you.Searches for ancestors often lead down dead-end paths.

I have an update on info I recently posted. Arthur J. Jr. went into service from Ft. Devens, MA January 20, 1942. He was discharged from Army 10/28/43 for physical disability. He returned home to Worcestor, MA,27 Bartlett St., with his Mother, Ida M. Gauthier Jette listed as next of kin. He served in 7th Evac. Hosp. in Asian Pacific Theater.

I am researching a line of Jettes that left Ohio after the Civil War and moved to Savannah, GA. Ephraim Owens Jette married Ruth Root Sheldon and had a son named Frank Sheldon. Frank moved to Savannah as a young man and was Superintendent of Transportation for the Central Georgia Railway in Savannah. He married Julia Bouchard (born Quebec) in 1881. They are buried in Savannah.
I would appreciate any information on this line of the Jette family.

Also trying to figure out when and who was the one to move to Massachusettes. I think that they moved from Quebec to Springfield or Chicopee Mass. and then moved to Worcester,Mass. Where they are today.
Any info. that any of you could provide would be very helpful.
A cousin of mine put together the genealogy that I have, she translated it from a book called, "Urbain Jette: Premier Ancestre Canadien" written and published in 1949.
Does anyone know if there is a copy of this book in English? Thanks. Beth

I got this information from Sue Montigny and Lynn Viaugh.
Mathurin Gette married Barbe Hulin at the Cathedral of St.Pierre de Verrin in 1598.
That is the only information I have about Mathurin but with the help of Sue and Lynn and also of my Dad's cousin Lucille I have lots of information about Urbain1.
How are you related to Urbain?

I am looking for information on Auguste Oliver Jette, He was born in Quebec, Canada onFeb. 12. 1884, moved to Massachusette, not sure when. I'd love to find some information on who his parents were, I've been told that he was part Iroquois indian. How many brothers and sisters hhe had, if any. The marriage record simply notes that Narcisse was the "widower (veuf) of Onesime Jette". Any retails would be most appreciated.

I am not sure if this is related -
In searching for ancestors and relations in the US Census records, I have found a Charles E Jette who was living with my relatives in both the 1920 and 1930 Census in Haverhill, Massachusetts.

Charles E Jette was the brother in law to the head of household, Frank DuSomb (sometimes spelled DuSombre). Frank DuSomb was my great-great grandfather. Frank's wife's name was Oxelia.

According to the 1930 Census records, Charles E Jette was naturalized in the US. He immigrated here in 1879. He was 70 yrs old at the time of the census.
