Christine,
There was some duplication. Frances(not Francis)is correct as far as I know. I've also removed Edwin (b1858), William (b1859), Eldrul (is actually Eldred) and Arthur (b1868). This should now line up with the census records. I still need to confirm birth and death dates. Hope this helps.

Where are your Jewells from? Are they from the New York area either around Saratoga County or Westchester (Sleepy Hollow)? I understand that there was a quite a settlement of the Dutch in Westchester and that there are a lot of Jewells buried there. Since they were Dutch, the spelling was Juel or Ewell (the J being dropped)I have checked the Westchester County GenWeb Page and there are several cemetery listings for these families. My connection to the Jewells is through Eliza Julia Jewell (abt. 1800) who married Lyman Fuller in Warren/Saratoga County in New York. They were my g,g, grandparents. I have been unable to determine who Eliza's parents were and thought it might be because the records are perhaps in Dutch.

I have found some info on my maternal grandfather, Edward Coloff. His name was actually Adam Edward Coloffkolowsky and he was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada about 1909. His parents were Russian born, Michael Coloffkolowsky and Steffani Klaimshuk (not sure about the spelling of that surname). He was married to my grandmother, Jennie Evelyn Crawford on 1 Dec, 1932 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Their marriage license states that he was Greek Orthodox and that he was a coppersmith. If any of this is ringing a bell for anyone I would appreciate all the help I can get.

Please, please disregard the information in the database you reference in your previous message, it is simply not correct.

The person who posted this information has the two John Jewells (father & son) completely mixed up.

The widow Jannetje (van Nostrand) Monfoort (widow of Hendrick) married the elder John Jewell (widow of Engeltje Jurske) on 25 Sep 1765 at New Hackensack.

Jannetje was at least 50 years old at the time of her second marriage to John Jewell (she was baptized 31 Jul 1715) and there is no indication this couple had any children together (both had several children by their first marriages).

It was the SON of John Jewell (by his first wife Engeltje Jurske) - also named John - who married Theophila Conklin on 5 Nov 1764 in the Rombout Precinct (Fishkill), NY.

Theophila did NOT die soon after her marriage, she and John removed from Fishkill before 30 Nov 1785 when he leased part of lot 27 (Allotment #1) on the Saratoga Tract [presently located in the village of Schuylerville] for a term of 21 years from 1801 from Philip J. Schuyler.

John and Theophila had at least six children, and are listed as godparents to two of the children of their daughter Jane (Jewell) Rugar.

Hi: If you find out anything about the Jewells of Saratoga/Fulton/Warren County New York area, please let me know. I have been searching for the family of my g,g,g grandmother Eliza Julia Jewell for a long time. She was born about 1801 in Saratoga/Fulton County, married Lyman Fuller of Stony Creek, Warren County, and died about 1856 in Stony Creek. I think her father was Isaac Jewell, but I have been unable to find out anything more about her. The Jewells have proved to be my most elusive family line. I originally thought they were from Litchfield County, Connecticut, but now I think they came through the New York City area.

Since I posted the 13 June 2008 message, a year ago, much has been resolved regarding confusion about grandfather
Clarence George Frederick Delville-Pratt. Through a new
found relative on this ancestry site, we have been in contact with Florence Attrill's granddaughter. After his
first marriage to Laura Clay, grandfather Clarence did indeed marry Florence(housekeeper)soon after Laura died.It was a short marriage and Albert was a son from this marriage. Clarence then married Bessie Roberts who we still have liitle knowledge/info about. They married in Pennsylvania and produced my father,Clarence William and Ernie.
The Jewell connection is that grandfathers sister married
into the Jewell family.

Christine,
I have pulled together some basic info in my family tree. Look up the "Kaufman Family Tree" (it's public). If you can't get into it, let me know and I'll send an invite.
Eldred's younger sister Sarah Jane (B1872) is my Great Grandmother. I have their parent's names and dates but, unfortunately, not much else. Hope this gives you a jump start.
Phill

Is it possible that the mother of Hannah Jewell was actually Jannetje Montfoort?

Looking at the record at:
http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&d...

It seems to appear that Theophila Conklin died too soon after her (5 Nov 1764) marriage to have had a daughter. John Jewell married 2nd (25 Sep 1765).

I wonder if you know that T. Conklin was in fact Hannah's mother.

thanks again.
William and Louisa Jewell - Michigan

I am looking for any information on William and Louisa Jewell that were living in Wisner Township, Tuscola County, Michigan in 1880. The children listed were William, Franklin, Martha Jane, Elesibeth (aka Elizabeth) and Fanny (aka Frances) Jewell.

According to the census, William and Louisa were born in New York and the children were all born in Michigan.

Martha Jane married Stephen Petty, Elesibeth married William Ballard and Fanny (Frances) married Henry Rose. Franklin (aka John)married 1st Olive A. Jones and 2nd Una Vandyne.

Franklin (John), Martha Jane, Elesibeth and Fanny married using the last name Heath, not Jewell.

William Jewell (aka John Jewell) married 1st Elizabeth Harder Mc Creedy and 2nd Mary Minerva Turner Smith Bedford.

There were also children Lucy Jewell who married Philander Daniels and Martin Jewell who married Minnie May Galloway.

Louisa later married Augustus Liscum. Louisa may have been married to a (Martin) Heath prior to her marriage to William Jewell. Louisa's maiden name might have been Landon.

Members of this family might be Native American.

Audra Heath
My name is Roxanne Jewell. I am the 'jynxpotter' who is researching this family line. Problem is I still can't get before Wright. I do have the line down to me, though not all the dates for all the children. Wright married Phoebe Harrington. About the only info I have on them is Wright was born in 1801 Vermont and Phoebe was born in 1815 New York. I have info from an 1850 Erie Co. New York census states that Wright and Phoebe's children:

1. Joseph
2. Victor
3. Lucy
4. Comfort
5. Millard Fillmore

then the family moved to Orleans Township where 2 where born.

6. Ada Ellen
7. John
