Hi all, i was asking about Ben a few years ago and then my computer fried. Finally have new compter so im back :) Since then been able to dig up some more information about him but we are at a dead end with finding any info about his parents or the father of his wife. This is what I have:

Benjamin Franklin Jiles and Sara Elizabeth (or ellen) Whitfield. At the time of the census before Sara's death her mother was living with them and sarah's mothers name was
Lucy Whitfield. After Ben died, he went on and remarried an Elizabeth Ann Pinkerton. Im decended from doc and his first wife through their son william Frank whose son was Robert Algin Jiles married to Selma Cumi Willis. Ben and his first wife sara were from the Bartow country Georgia area or thats at least where the last census records fro them were i believe. I have that Sara died in Polk Georgia. We heard stories that she was Cherokee or half Cherokee and Ive seen an old tin type of her but haven't been able to check out the dawes rolls yet. Does anyone know if she or her mother have a registry number? Also know that Bens parents died when he was young and that he had two or three older brothers. One fought for the union and the other two i think for Confederacy. Ben wanted to fight for the confederacy and tried to signup when he was 15 but was to young so hunted and fished for the confederate army until he was 17 and then could fight. He was wounded in The Battle of the Wilderness and lost i think it was his left hand. My cousin has a picture. It was said at that point he deserted and a widow woman found him and since it was gangrene she crossed the lines to get a union doctor who amputated it. He then stayed and worked several years for her to pay off her kindness at least this is what ive heard from my great aunt olga who recently passed away and my cousin. Thanks to anyone who can help. Sincerely, Laura Landers
