Aljain J. Jiles is the son of Benjamin Franklin Jiles and Sarah Ellen Whitfield.
Algian (spelling typed above handwritten Aljain) J. Jiles’ death certificate (copy in file) provides the following information. He died in the WOW Hospital in San Antonio, TX of pulmonary tuberculosis. He was born, 12/15/1874, GA, died 10/31/1932. His wife’s name is Laura B. Keylon and he is divorced. His parent’s are B.F. Jiles, born GA and Sarah E. Whitfield, born GA.
The 1930 census lists LA as the place of birth for the father of Laura’s children. LA was the resident state of Aljain’s father and siblings from the late 1800‘s until their deaths.
He used the Algin spelling in 1918 on his WWI Draft Registration and on the 1920 census. It appears that he started using the Aljain spelling after 1920. After reviewing the facts available at this time, it is my opinion that Robt. Giles listed in the1880 census and Algin/Aljain J./Algian J. Jiles are the same person. Algian’s parents are listed as B.F. Jiles and Sarah E. Whitfield on his death certificate. Several legal documents have the “Algin” spelling. Robert’s age on the 1880 census is the same as Aljin/Aljain’s in later census. No other records have been found for Robert after 1880. Aljain’s older brother, William Franklin Giles, named a son, Robert Algin, who named his son Robert Algin, Jr.
Aljain J. Jiles married Laura Bell Keylon, b. 2/16/1877, TN, d. 8/24/1953. According to their descendants, they married about 1901 in Indian Territory, OK. She was the daughter of James Henry Keylon and Rhoda A. Fuller. They married, 8/8/1872, in Roane Co., TN.
His birth and death date used, taken from his death certificate. They share a joint headstone and are buried in the Texhoma Cemetery, Sherman Co., TX. His name inscribed Aljain J. Jiles and his birth date, January 15, 1874. Her birth and death date from their headstone.
Children of Aljain J. Jiles and Laura Bell Keylon are William Horace, John Warren, Oma Bell, Earl, Dock Henry, Robert, Rhoda Ellen "Dolly", Beulah Opal, Overton Jack

Rhoda Ellen was named for her grandmothers. Rhoda, from her maternal grandmother, Rhoda A. (Fuller) Keylon, and the middle name, Ellen, from her paternal grandmother, Sarah Ellen (Whitfield) Jiles. Story goes, when she was born, her brothers, Robert and Dock were looking at her and one of them exclaimed "She looks just like a little Dolly" and that stuck with her for life.
