Re: Jocelyn geneaology

I am looking for a connection between Henry Jocelyn and Annie Penner Milton. They are supposedly the parents of my maternal grandfather, Henry Leon Jocelyn, na Harvey, born Denver, CO 1899. There does not appear to be a marriage record for Annie and Henry Jocelyn but she begins using that surname about 1900. No trace of Henry Jocelyn that I can find. The family then moves back and forth to New Rochelle, NY,, home of Harvey family who supported them, and Glendale, California. Any help would be appreciated.
Nancy Thomas

Thank you Arnold for your reply on my Joslin Quier.

I don't know if you have the same book they have at the Cincinnati, Public Library or not. Thay have a large one with the black creast in it plus the tracing of the Joslin family back to Charlemagne time and his parents connection back to about the 1250 BC time. I was trying to see if I could go back farther than that time. Thanks again
Frank Oligee

Hi Julie

Sorry I'm late getting back to you. It's Xmas time and it seems there's not enough hours in a day to get things done.

You ask about my Joslin Connection. my 12th Great Grandfather Richard Newton son Moses Newton born 1645 was married about four times. His first wife was Jonna Larken
then it was Sarha Joslin born 1650, then it was Mary Joslin born 1646. This is my connection with the Joslins family spelled different ways. If you go to the LDS Church Library you should be able to trace this family of Joslins back to Charlemagne King of The Roman Empire. Also there's a book out on the history of Charlemagne, if you can find it somewhere it would be great to check on.

Hope this is some help to you.
Have A MERRY XMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR
Frank Oligee
Hi I'm hoping that you can help me. I'm trying to locate info on the Joslyn/Brown line. Susanna Joslyn (b.Dec 8, 1895 Massachusetts) married a Samuel Brown (b. abt 1804 possibly RI, or Massachusetts) both died in Woodbury County Iowa. Susanna parents were ABRAHAM JOSLYN (JOSLIN) and SUSANNAH RING. Both born in Massachusetts. I have info on the earlier JOSLYN/JOSLIN families but none on my mothers side involving the BROWN connection, with the exception of the name of one of their children: CHARLES BROWN (.b Jan 28 1833 in Berkshire, Massachusetts) CHARLES BROWN (1833) married MINERVA JANE WEST (m ABT 1857). Several children of this union, one being my mother's g father SAMUEL C BROWN. (b abt 1872 in Iowa). m. MARTH LARIVE abt Feb 23, 1897 IOWA. Any piece of information would be greatly appreciated as this "BROWN" family has been soooooo much fun trying to get information on. My mother states that " they" "BROWNS" came over on the Mayflower but I have been unable to connect anyone back further than 1800's. Thank you so much.

Hi Dave, Thanks for the offer to look up my line. I'm afraid I have tried and it doesn't include Augustus's children. His father's family in New Haven (Pember) is listed as not complete also. We have attempted to find wills or other records to tie these people together but have not found anything as of yet. We believe Augustus had brothers Luther and Jared C. in additon to known brother William. Much of this info was found in the New Haven CT vital records. For some reason, it stops about the 1790-1800 time frame. If you can add anything directly to Augustus's family please contact me at jrdgcook@earthlink.net
Thanks again!

The family lived in Southampton I think there were 4 boys and Samual went to New Zealand and that is where my research in Australia starts but I am trying to find out about the family in England. The book I'm referring is the Wessler book published in 1961 in Japan . Then there's Gilbert Josceline again. then number 11 gnereation is Geoffrey b 1085 and all I have is daughter of John de Bissel now if thes are brothers or fathers I'm not sure. But I would sure like to hear from you and David. Maybe we can exchange inf. My generation went as far as Charlemagne

Dave, if you're planning a trip to Essex in August you should get in touch with the Josselin Society. It has been established for about 10 years. I am sure members would be keen to meet you and help with your research. Get in touch anyway.

Is anyone researching Luther Jocelyn's family? Information I have received from other reseachers indicate he had a son named Francis b. in 1830 in Ohio. My gg-grandfather was Francis Jocelyn married to Agnes Armstrong in 1856 in Indiana. I' m wondering if this could be Luther's son could be my Francis. Thanks to anyone who might have a clue.

Am anxiously awaiting the opportunity to buy a copy.

Are you a European or American Joslin, by the way?
