Hi I'm looking for my grandfather's family in Sweden. They were from Froskog (Ostfold-Bohuslan-Dalsland). The mother was Johanna Jonasdotter b. 1817, Spatthult Froskog, Alvsborg. The children were: Jonas Henrik b. 1837Kristofer b. 1839; Lars Gustaf b. 1841 (My ggrandfather, moved to Norway); Emma b. 1843 also moved to Norway: Anna Sophia b. 1845; Hilma b. 1848; Stina b. 1852; and Otto b . 1854. Lars Gustaf m. a Karin in Norway where they had my grandfather, Gustaf Adolph Johannesson. Gus was apparently in the Merchant Navy, and jump ship in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. He lived in St. John's New Brunswick Canada where he married my grandmother Inaborg Bergstrom b. 1889 Sweden. Grandfather Gus had two sibings in Oslo, one was a sister named Anna? Thank you, Denise

Johannes Jonsson born 1819 in Sweden

I'm taking a real long shot here but going to go for it anyway.
My great-grandfather, Sven Johan Johannesson was born on 10 May1844 at Vestergotland,Skaraborgs Lan,Sweden. He was the son of Johannes Jonsson and Anna Greta Svensson..
When he was 25 he immigrated to the U.S. and settled in Rockford, Illinois for four months. He then left Illinois and traveled to Bernadotte Township, Nicollett County,MN.There he met Ana Christina Swensdotter. They were married on 16 Oct 1874. My great grandfather changed his last name at some point in time because on his marriage liscence he gives his name as Swen Johan Lundgren. He went by the name of John Lundgren and Ana Went by her middle name.
According to John's obit he had a brother named Gustavand two sisters.
I am wondering if there are any family members left in Sweden.
If so I wouldd love to hear from you.

I realize this is a longshot but, my grandfather changed the family name to Bjorkman in Sweden at about 1880? However, his brothers and sisters continued in the tradition naming process. His 2 older brothers came to this country (US) in July 1871 in the Chicago/Wisconsin/Minn.area. My Family oral history traditionally had my grandfather Per Bjorkman meeting his brothers in the Chicago area, as he was a building contractor. My grandfather went back to Sweden where he lived for the rest of his life. His 2 brothers Olof Emil Johannesson-born 9/24/1842 and Sven-born 3/4/1845 in Ostra Glanne, Frykerud, Varmland, Sweden.Would like any information about them as no word was ever heard from them again, at least to my knowledge.Perhaps I have cousins in the mid-west somewhere.Would like any kind of lead to where they moved to,lived,died. I'm sure they had changed or shorten their surnames. Thanks for any response. Dave Bjorkman

This fellow was born 17 mar.1805 in Hafslo,sogn og fjordane,norway.Died 1875@ farm mariefjaeren,hafslo,nor.Am trying to find his grandparents.His father was johannes jorgenson of same farm in hafslo.So I am assumeing that his grandfathers name would be :jorgen possiblely johannesson too, but not sure of this.Jorgen Johannesson was a native of this area,and his wife's name was kristi thomasdotter.
Also looking for a Christopher Jorgenson b:21 dec 1837,kristi's son.Christophers children emmigrated to the u.s.a.

Frans August Johannesson born 1848 in parish Väckelsång, Sweden and his wife Johanna Carolina Bengtsdotter born 1854 in parish Sandsjö Sweden

Frans August and Johanna Carolina had eight children

* Augusta Emilia b. 10 february 1877
* Emma Kristina b. 18 november 1878
* Anna Lovisa b. 23 april 1880
* Lars Fabian b. 8 april 1882
* Johan August b. 15 december 1883
* Thilda Maria b. 11 december 1885
* Ida Charlotta b. 4 june 1888
* Wendela b. 26 september 1890

They emigrated 1892, Except Augusta Emilia she emigrated 1894.
