Johnston's are difficult to pin down, aren't they? I have a
Francis or Frank Johnston who married Mary Clark. They lived for a time in or near Wayne County, Ohio. Their daughter Margaret married Jacob Lawrence in Wayne County, 6 May 1834. I am looking for information on these ancestors. Margaret and Jacob were my maternal ggrandparents. Margaret had a brother named John Clark Johnston who married Elizabeth Logan and lived most of his life in Crawford County, in or near Galia, Ohio. Their daughter Celia married Frank Rinehart, (sp. unsure) lived in that county most if not all of her life. Her grandmother Mary Clark Johnston lived with her after Francis Johnston had passed, according to my Mother, although I have been unable to locate verification for that. Francis and Mary would have been born about 1770 to 1780. Margaret was born 22 July 1810, died 7 Jan 1878 in Lafayette Twp, Allen, IN. John Clark J. was born 1813. F & M had other children: Mary married John Firestone, My mother said he died young, and I did locate a mention of such a gentleman in Old Applecreek Cemetery in East Union Twp, Wayne Co., OH. There was another daughter named Tamir or Tamsen who married either Cooper or Davis, and another daughter (name unknown) who married whichever of the two above names that Tamir/Tamsen did not. My mother's memory was remarkably good though I have disproved a few minor details that she had stored in her unusual mind. If any of this sounds even vaguely familiar, please get in touch. Jeanne
