Savimaki-Jokela

I am searching for information about August Jokela born 1869 in Finland, arriving in USA around 1893. He married Minnie Heikkila in 1899 using the surname Savimaki. He lived in Montana until around 1935. He moved to Michigan and married Ida Nelson Maki in 1940. Any information would be great! I can't find any connection to Jokela but he used it the rest of his life. Possibly biological father was Kalle Jokela from Haapajarvi, Finland.

I'm looking for any information on Onnia Jokela. She married Jack Brinkkila in Bisbee, Arizona in 1917. They later changed their last name to Hill. They had one son, Jack Duno (Brinkkila) Hill. Jack died in Bisbee in 1940; Onnia died in Prescott, AZ in 1982, and her son Jack in Prescott in 1992. Family lore claims we are related to Onnia, but I can't find any connection, and can't find any other family information on Onnia.

I was looking up my maiden name (my father is Glen Jokela) and saw that your Paternal Grandfather and Grandmother are Bernard and Mary Jokela. I did not know that there were any children between them, so I learned something new today!

Bernard passed away when I was a child, but I remember him very well. He was an excellent artist, painter and sketch, and drew many beautiful pictures of my mother. Mary was his second wife. My Grandmother Nona (also now deceased) was his first wife and they had two sons, Glen and Dennis. Both reside in Arizona.

I heard almost the same history of Finland, reindeer herds owned by the family, etc. from my Father and Grandparents and Great Aunts and Uncles in Minnesota and Michigan.
Interesting family!

Hei,

Thank You for Your reply. The Jokela family I am searching is originally from Kittilä, Finland.
There was three Jokela named sibblings Matti, Mikko and Matleena who emigrated to Amerika.
Matti Jokela Mickelsen and his descentants are well known. They live mostly in Michigan and Minnesota. We don´t however know almost anything about Mikko and Matleena Jokela after the year 1906.
If it would turn out to be that we belong to the same Jokela family it would be a jackpot and perhaps it would at last end the hopeless search for Mikko and Matleena
If we are family I am 100% sure I can help You with Your search.

Best wishes

Juha Jokela
