I'm needed a ship record for Steve Jones:
The following info is from the 1910 Census for Moline, Rock Island County, Illinois, Third Avenue, April 15. They did not live in houses; just dwellings. They were "gypsies" so probably covered wagons. In this census, Steve was widowed, living with 3 children. His other children are listed below him with all of their families. I'm most concerned with Steve and a son Pete who is said to have been "born on the ship coming to America"
Steve b. abt 1850 in Austria/Romania
immigrated in 1885, occupation: horse trader
Steve's son Pete was born about 1882 in Fr/Romania
I do not know what port they came in on, nor do we know their Romanian names. Stories are the name was "Jovonovich" but I know that's NOT a Romanian name. Steve was shortened I'm sure but the family was not literate so nothing has been written down.
