Any body know who S.G. Jones might be?

my great great grandmother Mary E. Culver or Jones? was born in Galena Illinois 12/20/1846. Her obituary states her maiden name as Jones. father S.G. Jones. 2 Younger Brothers Charles and James Culver... Family Believes she may have been adopted by S.G. Jones, but according to 1850 census it shows her living at age 4 with Joseph Culver and Eliza Culver in Allamakee County Iowa. It shows her with this family clear tru 1860 census...She was married in 1864 to Michael Ebner. So my theary maybe she was adopted by Culvers? or her mother was Married to First S.G. Jones then Joseph Culver?
Anybody know who S.G. Jones might be?

Looking for Cemetery where Sarah Jane Babbitt Jones is buried. Would like to see a picture of headstone. Said to be buried in Idaho Springs, Colorado. Other information is that she was buried in Peru,Nebraska. I have looked in Peru, but could not find Her head stone. Could be she does not have a headstone. She was the wife of Charles Adam Jones (1832-1892) they lived most of there live in Nebraska, don't know why she would be in Colorado. She was the daughter of Job and Catherine Babbitt.
Thank you

Jones, Foust & ?? Looking for help...please?

I am trying to find information about my gggrandparents. What I do have will follow:
An unknown Jones of an unknown age was born in South Carolina.
He married an Amelia L. unknown born February 22, 1834 in South Carolina.
Only KNOWN child was Nancy Elizabeth Jones born December 13 or 31, 1861 in unknown, Alabama.
Then Amelia L. unknown, Jones married a
(fairly certain)William,
(positive)Foust and had John D. Foust - 1867, Erastus - 1868, James Pinkney - 1873 & Mollie J. - 1875.
My problem is, I am from Nancy Elizabeth Jones' line, and I have no clue where to begin establishing who her father was or what her mother's(Amelia L.) maiden name was.
I can't help but wonder if Nancy Elizabeth might have had older siblings by Jones, because Amelia was 27 when she had Nancy Elizabeth.
The ONLY info I can find is the 1880 Grayson County, Texas census where Amelia is a Foust and a widow, with Nancy E. Jones @ 18 yrs and the 4 Foust half-siblings. And the information that Amelia L. and unknown Jones were both born in South Carolina.
I need help, any and all suggestions or directions will be appreciated.
Hi, my name is Iris (Denham Jones) El Naas.

I am doing genealogy on my mom's side (Jones) and I am finding it very difficult to find any information. I am hoping that someone out there can help me.

My mother’s name is Anna M.(Jones). She was born 2 Dec 1960, in Columbus, OH and is still living. She has 1 brother that is still living. His name is John E. Jones, and she has one sister Janice (Jones) Edwards. My mother, brother and sister all attended South High School in Columbus, OH.
Their father’s name was John Earl Jones. He resided in Columbus, Oh, but passed in October 1973 in Ft. Clinton, OH and was buried November 1973.

My grandmother’s maiden name is Pauline (Johnson), but changed to Pauline Jones after marrying my grandfather. Recently, my grandmother has re-married and her name is now Pauline Chaney.

John E. Jones Sr. mother's name was Gretha Jones born 12 Sept 1905 supposedly in LA. Gretha Jones passed in March 1985 in Columbus, OH. I'm not sure if my great-grandmother Gretha Jones was ever married.

This is all the information that I have, so if anyone has any information on any of these people or relatives, please let me know.

Iris (Denham Jones) El Naas.
sweets1girl@yahoo.com
Yes, Florence was married a few times! The only name I have for her fourth husband is "DeWitt," which I am assuming was his last name. They were married and divorced in Salem, Marion Co., Oregon. The marriage only lasted about a year or less, and they were divorced approx. 1964 or so.

If anyone has any information, please feel free to e-mail me at hornchrissy@yahoo.com.

Thank you!

John S. "June" Jones, Jr.

Searching for relatives or knowledge of "June" Jones who lived in Roanoke City in the late 1940's. Father's name was John S. Jones, and it is believed "June" or "Jun" was short for Junior since he probably carried the name of John Jones, Jr. Lived on 2200 block of Moorman Avenue in the late '40's and may have worked at the Viscose. Was a short, stocky man with olive-colored complexion and dark curly hair, possibly of Mediterranian descent. Any information appreciated.
Any direct male line descendants of Jonas Nilsson DNA tested?

My name is Jack Mason, from Milwaukee, WI. I've hit kind of a brick wall in my research, and I was wondering if any of a particular line of Joneses may have DNA tested.

I have reason to suspect that my line changed their name from Jones to Mason about 1800 in Somerset Co, PA.

There were a handful of individuals in that place and time who seemed to have used surnames Mason interchangably. Further, due to connection of my Masons with some well-known New Sweden families, I suspect that the case may have emerged as follows:

Jonas Nilsson b. 1620 in Skaraborgs lan, Sweden, father of
Mans Jonasson b. 1654 +/- in Philadelphia, PA. Changes his surname to Jones to accomodate the new English order . . .
William Jones, b. 1780 in Berks, PA changes his surname to Mason, being either his profession or an anglicization of Mansson, when he settles next to another fellow named William Mason in Somerset Co, PA

It seems to be a well-established fact that at least one line of Jonas Nilsson's descendants changed their name to Jones, but the rest of my description is just a hypothesis right now.

Happy to share more info with anyone interested. My Ysearch profile is CUC6E.

You can get in touch w/ me at Tuathanach@aol.com.

Thanks loads, and have a good one.

They both died in the 1920's/1930's, and were members of the Glynarthen chapel.
I have 3 possible answers as to who David's father was and am now completely blocked ! Help !
Marion Francis Jones/Mary Elizabeth Mulls or Mills

My name is Tommie Jean Amaya (Kidd) and the subject of my e-mail is my Great Grand Parents on my Mothers' side. My mother was Mary Ellen Broughton and her mothers name was Lillian R. Broughton (Jones). My Great Grand Parents came from Tennessee in 1903. I never knew my Great Grand Father but, I did get to know my Great Grand Mother Mary Elizabeth Jone. She always told me stories when I was growing up about her life. The one story she always liked to tell me about was when she came to Texas. She said that her first born was only three days old when she came from Tennessee in 1903 and that she came by train. The saddest story was about how her real Mom died when she was just three days old;and that her Father took her and her sister or sisters to there Grandparents house and never came back. My Grandmother used to write her cousin Emma Large that lived in Knoxville, Tennesse that lived with her Mother which was my Great Grandma,s sister;which I don't remember what her name was. So if anyone out there knows any of these people please notify me by e-mail or phone.

Thank You,
Tommie J. Amaya
tommie_countryusa@yahoo.com
713-412-6779(cell phone)
281-372-6805

Can anyone help me with family history/tree information about descendants or ascendants of the following?

Elizabeth Jones, born 25 August 1852 at Castlereagh NSW, died 17 July, 1932 at Forbes NSW & Pierce Collits, born 1848 Castlereagh NSW . They married on 27 April 18760 at Glenroy, NSW.

As I research my families widely, both for my own family tree purposes and as a gift to friends and their families, I would really appreciate any family tree and relevant research copies from anyone in any country who is researching the JONES name, or perhaps some leads to already existing websites where this type of information can be found.

If anyone wishes to send me information, either a Gedcom or a file attached to an email would be very welcome. I would be quite happy to send anyone who requests it all the information I have in return. I run Legacy 6 as a genealogy programme on my computer.

Thanks for your assistance, everyone.

Looking for information about John Jones born 1866 in Ohio to Robert William Jones. Mother unknown.

Robert William Jones is my great grandfather. I have him in the 1841 English Census,at age 3, along with 4 sisters, livng with their parents John Jones and Margaret Williams in Liverpool, England. His father died in 1850 in England. I then find him in 1960 US Census at age 28 in Cinncinatti, Ohio with his mother and 3 of his sisters. I then find him in the 1870 US Census in Pleasant Grove, Utah with his mother and a 4 year old male child named John Jones born in 1866 in Ohio. I am assuming that Robert got married while in Ohio, between the years 1860 and 1866. I haven't been able to find that information, or the birth of the child. Robert and my great grandmother Phebe Nerdin, daughter of Thomas Nerdin and Elizabeth Dunn Nerdin of Pleasant Grove, Utah, were married in Salt Lake City on 21 Nov 1870. I find Robert next in the 1880 US Census in Little Cottonwood (Murray), Utah with my great grandmother, Phebe and their family, consisting of 4 children at the time. My grandmother, Elizabeth being the first child. Robert's sister Elizabeth lives next door with her family and Robert's mother Margaret Willliams Jones. I find no mention of the 4 year old boy John Jones after the 1870 Census. If you have any information about this family or who the child or the mother is, please let me know.

I am having trouble finding the parents of Charles Millard Jones born Oct 21 1884 in Texas. In 1918 he lived in Amarillo, Tx with his wife Jessie Vida Washam Jones (1891 - 1948), children: Carl A; Cecil M; Reuben Charles born 1916; and Addie Mae (Rainwater). In Amarillo, CM Jones worked as an auto mechanic. It appears that he may have been dead before 1948 since his sister gave the death certificate information for Jessie who died in 1948. Any help would be so greatly appreciated. rmamartinez@yahoo.com

Jeremiah Jones (1805-1889): Siblings and parents

I am looking for information re: the parents and siblings of Jeremiah Jones (1805-1889) of Marshall County, WV, who married Jane Perry/Parry (1815-1898) in 1832 in Ohio County, WV. His parents are reported to be George Jones (b. 1765 in DE d. 1833 at Buffalo Creek, (WV)--could be any county but suspect northern panhandle rather than the infamous Buffalo Creek in Logan County) and Catherine Elizabeth Crow (b. 1767 in MD and d. 1849 in unknown). I haven't been able to tie Catherine to the Crow family of Marshall County. Their children: Abram, Daniel, Garrett (is this Garrison Jones of Ohio County and Marshall County?), George Washington, Phillip, Samuel, Jeremiah, Ann, Betsey, Margaret, Mary, and Sallie. I find the following Jones men in the 1850 census of Marshall County but don't know if they are related: Daniel b.c. 1806 in VA; Garrison b.c. 1786 in DE; Jeremiah b.c. 1805 in VA (this is my Jeremiah); Phillip b.c. 1797 in MD; and Samuel b.c. 1803 in VA (I have identified this Samuel as the brother of my Jeremiah). This Jones family is also related through marriages (Jeremiah's children) to the Leach and Riggs families of Marshall County, WV.

Thanks for any assistance or inquiries (I will gladly share what I've found and sources I used with anyone researching this family).

Linda

Black Hawk War; Jones brothers

I am looking for the parents of two brothers that served during the Black Hawk War in 1831-1832. The men I am looking for were both born in VA, as far as I know. I am unsure of what county they were from in VA. They were Francis Slaughter Jones and his brother Gabriel Jones. F. Slaughter Jones was my ggggreat and was born in 1802. I don't have a birthdate for Gabriel yet. F. Slaughter Jones served as a private during the Black Hawk War, under the command of his brother, Gabriel, who was Colonel of the 3rd Regiment of the Illinois Militia. Slaughter was married in 1830 in Randolph Co., IL to Melvina Kelly, who was from KY. They moved to Jasper Co., IL later. I have found them listed in the 1850 Newton Precinct, Jasper Co., IL Census with some of there children and apparently Melvina's mother, Mary Kelly. Slaughter and Melvina were supposed to have had 11 children (7 boys & 4 girls). Their son, William B. Jones was my gggreat grandfather and served in the 8th IL INF during the Civil War. Any help with this family would be GREATLY appreciated! Please get in contact with me if you can help in some way. Thanks!
Teresa Jones Dix

My G Grandmother Ann E (Elinor) Hughes was born August 4th 1869 in Slatington PA. I believe her father was John Hughes from Betws y Coed in North Wales (house name Llanwr Eryr) He emigrated to the US to work in the mines of Pennsylvania but sadly I think he was killed in the Avondale mining disaster when Ann was just over a month old. She was then sent back to North Wales to be brought up by her paternal Grandmother also Ann Hughe. I am having real problems trying to obtain info on her birth and what happened to her mother. Can anyone help me in my quest Thank you!! Debbi

Gabriel Jones father of Zachariah?

PLEASE someone, somewhere, somehow, must have heard of Gabriel Jones who may or may not have been married to Anny Johnson. In 1818, Gabe MAY have become the father of Zachariah Jones in Madison Cty, KY.

What I know as fact: In 1839, Zachariah Jones was married to Matilda Jane Walton, moved with her to Callaway Cty, MO, farmed and was a Methodist circuit rider preacher. I have been looking for more than 2 years for Rev. Zach's family with no success whatever. Gabriel may not even be the one I need. What I have related above is the sum total of my knowledge about Gabe...His connection with Zachariah, so far, is only a rumour.

Can ANYBODY help me find Zachariah's folks? I would surely appreciate it. I am about to declare myself an orphan on that line and forget about the Jones'.

But, that is only today...they HAD to have existed... somewhere, sometime, somehow.

I'm sure many of you have felt my frustration on your own "Jones"s. Thanks for reading. If you would want to respond, my personal email is chachipup@yahoo.com

Jacki

I am looking for any info on the ancestors of Fredrick and Mary Jones who resided in Marshall Co., Alabama in the 1850's. From looking at the census I see that they had numerous extended family members living in the area they lived at (Subdivision 23 of Marshall county).
My lineage comes from their son Enoch Jones.

I am looking to find out Fredrick's Father.

Frederick Jones was born about 1792 in South Carolina. He migrated from SC to TN to AL. He died after 1860.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks1
Jones

I am trying to research my maternal grandmother, Matilda Agusta "Gussie" Jones (maiden name). Born 9 Aug 1891 in Texas, Death 19 Oct 1981 in Hale Center, Hale County, Texas, USA. She was married to Alfred D. "A.D." Rowden. The only reliable record I find is 1920 census, living in Chico, Wise County, Texas, USA. The census states only the bith state of the parents, both in Texas. I never heard her speak of her mother's or father's family. I do remember her saying that "grandma Jones" was of American Indian decent. The wonderful old bible that she faithfully recorded family events in is "gone" no one knows what happened to it or who may have it. Help Please thanks so much for your kindness.. dgray1302@sbcglobal.net if you have a reply or need further info.

Jones Family Book Found in Folsom Californis...Looking for it's family

I am not related, but am in the habit of checking old bibles & such for genealogical information just because. My husband & I were in an antique store in Folsom, California over the 4th of July week-end and I found a wonderful family history book ~ pictures w/names and dates. The store keeper was a bit taken back by me and I wasn't able to copy much and the cost was a bit steep (54.00) for a family book of no relation, so here is all I was able to obtain. If you are related let me know; I have the business card for your contact information.

Era & Edgar Byers
G.M. & Mary Jones
Joseph H. Jones
Mary J. Jones
Anna Estella Jones
George Laproy 1948
Irene Loner

This is a treasure trove of information for any family member connected. Photos, newspaper clippings, and hand written information.

Enos JONES, died Duplin Co., NC 1932

In hopes of finding someone out there who may connect these families, we are searching for descendants of ENOS JONES, b. December, 1849, d. March 30, 1932.

We believe this ENOS JONES may possibly be the nephew, cousin, or younger brother of our G-G-grandfather, THOMAS J. JONES, OUR BRICK WALL.

ENOS JONES appears on the 1860(North Division, Duplin, NC) with parents Henson and Morien (?Morning) Jones and several siblings.

Haven't found the 1870 yet.

He appears on the 1880 (Glisson, Duplin, NC) with first wife, Hepsy O., son Freddie, servant Alice, and brother Calvin.

He appears on the 1900 (Glisson, Duplin, NC) with second wife, Della, son Freddie, daughters Dora M. and Cora B., and sons Enos D., and Webster.

He appears on the 1910 (household 19, HOWELL TOWNSHIP, JOHNSON COUNTY, ARKANSAS) with wife Della A., sons Enas D. and Barney W. Son Freddie lives two doors down with his wife, Myrtle, and children Maggie O. and Leonard N.

He is back in North Carolina on the 1920 (Glisson, Duplin, NC) but listed as AENOS (Amos) with wife Della Ann and grandson Lenord. Some of his children are back in Duplin Co. living near him.

He is listed on the 1930 (Glisson, Duplin, NC) with wife Della and grandson Ray Garner.

He died on March 30, 1932 and is listed in "North Carolina Death Certificatees, 1909-1975." His parents are listed as "HENSON JONES" and "MORNING LEWIS." The informant was his wife, Della.

While in Arkansas, he lived literally among the extended family of THOMAS J. JONES and his wife, MATILDA MCCLURE JONES. Enos' daughter, Dora M., married JAMES KETCHERSIDE, whose father was from northwest Georgia and the KETCHERSIDE extended family is inter-related with the JONES family.

Our G-G-Grandfather, THOMAS J. JONES indicated on many records he was born in North Carolina. The only early record of our THOMAS J. JONES besides the census of 1850 (Gilmer co.), 1860 and 1870 (both Whitfield Co.) in Georgia was his marriage license issued in Gilmer County, GA in 1848.

So, when we discovered that ENOS JONES, born in NC was living among our JONES family in 1910, we wondered why he would be living in that particular area if he weren't related somehow. Enos is the head of household 19. Families 1 through 18 preceeding him on the ennumeration ARE ALL RELATED to our THOMAS J. JONES' family, and many families listed after ENOS JONES are related to THOMAS J. JONES as well.

And, Howell Township, Johnson County, Arkansas, is today still a very rural area. So in 1910 ENOS JONES must have gone there for a reason. Was that to be with other family members?

I am looking for Rebecca Jones, (b 18 Jul 1838 OR 19 Aug 1839 and various other possibilities) and information re her marriage to John Oney, (28 Nov 1834)

Married: 10 Sep 1858, allegedly in Ohio.

Thanks to Kim Donley, I have Rebecca and John's death certificates, and census information.

I am hoping that a marriage certificate would include where she was actually born. Most census forms indicate Ohio. However, there is some information that indicates Indiana - OR - Native American (Indian). Family lore has it that she was 100 percent Cherokee, from a great-uncles that was 6 when she died.

Her parents names were Samuel Jones b. 1809?? and Naomi (Neoma) Corneilous - allegedly in Ohio

Millard Fillmore Jones and Martha A Cheshire in West Plains, MO

This is probably a long shot, but I am researching Millard Fillmore Jones and Martha A Cheshire. They had these children in West Plains, Howell, Mo.

Neale "Homer" Jones, Millard "Bud" Cheshire Jones, Anna Civil Jones, (Robert - I think) Hall Jones, William Hunter Jones, Francis "Frank" Alva Jones, and Henry Clay Jones.

I have some information on them, but it is rather sketchy. Should anyone know who they married and if they had children I would be interested in that information. Or anything else about the family. I am also willing to share what little I have about the family so far.

Thanks

I think he was born in Florida but if he wasnt I know that he lived there when I was born in 1977. I also know that he lived in Denver Colorado in 1988. He was really good friends with the Geer Family. I have attached a picture of him in hopes that I will find him. Thank you so much.
