I am in search of information concerning Thomas Clingman Jones B: July 26 1855 North Carolina. Husband to Sarah Stamey B:Aug 18 1854. I can verify that his father was Willis Jones B: 1815. I think Willis Jones's father was Jacob Jones. I have family documents stating that this line of Joneses originate from seven brothers who came to America and went to seperate areas of the United States. I'm looking for the adoptive parents of Velma May "Peggy" Jones Pritts Polk, b. 1916 Selden, Sheridan, Kansas, d. 1968 Shirley, Indiana. She was my grandmother and the biological daughter of Franklin Jackson Jones and Mary F. Cole, according to her birth certificate. Rumor has it she was adopted by a Pritts in Kansas, and there is, in fact, a George Edwin Pritts who married her aunt Laura Emiline Jones a few years after Velma was born, but Velma doesn't appear in any census records. Also, Velma married 1st Charles Calhoun, 2nd Charles Ream Polk. I am doing this research for my father, Charles Calhoun, who would also like to contact any living relatives of his uncle Kenneth Jones and Aunt Ada Jones (don't know married name). Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.

Amazing how you come across like you care. Did you forget David was born in 1972. By my addition he would have been 10, 9 at the youngest. I remember you telling somebody that was interviewing you, just after David was diagnosed, that this would either make you a bitter person or a better person. I believe everybody in our family, that really knows you, knows the answer. I feel sad for you. I know you didn't have a good childhood, the stresses of raising 4 kids with Daddy gone on the road, & the hurt of seeing a child go through this horrible disease. But that doesn't excuse you from your actions. What kind of mother would beat their just diagnosed son to the point of 2 black eyes? God bless to all.... what does that mean to you? You have so much hurt & anger, and built up such big walls that not even God could penetrate your own heart. That is the biggest reason that I feel for you. Stop running, stop lying to yourself and everyone else. Aren't you tired? I've been looking for you and found this. I know your post is old, but maybe you'll respond.

What a coincidence ?? I am at home alone as Diana is away on a bus trip, I am working on the JONES family ,in particular ,upgrading your Dad's and your family info. as you know I've done a great deal of research on the JONES'S

Hi Graeme - my name is Cameron Jones - Im Russell and Fran Jones's son - ive done some investigation after speaking with Dad and found the following details if they assist you at all:

[N301] The above is taken from Church records. The date on his recorded entry of
birth is 28 Sept 1857. Would have to send for his birth cert to see which
one is a mistake.
The records show that a baby was born to William Downham and Sarah Fleckney
in 1876 before she married a Jones a few years later. The child was Aaron
Downham born 13 Sept 1876 in Richmond (1600). William was only 19 at the
time and eventually married Emily Jupp when he was 29, 10 years later.

My gdad name was Henry Chester Jones, retired Army Colonel. He resided in ST Pete, Florida.Died in 1978 at Bay Pines Hospital- wife Felicia died in 1979. They had a son named Robert Rockwell Jones, USAF retired major. He was born about 1923-1926. He lives (lived?) in Safety Harbor in St Petersburg on Bayou Grande Blvd. I have lost touch with him.He really cut ties with me and my 2 brothers over something very stupid. As far as I know they still own the house. I do not know if he is deceased. His wife was Athena Jones. She had 2 kids from a prv mar..Mike and Karen Jones. Can anyone help me? I am now also trying to research my grddad line.

I just have not enough time I do have our James Jones Penion records tho...on my Ancestors site as I had thought I had posted it there several years on the West Virginia Ancestors 'My Family' website....
I was just the other Jones all out and the Bible thought maybe someone else could use them....
Never know but its always possible to be distant cousins in some way...
When I get time I will check this line out....

Stella, It does not look to me that this is the James Jones who married Sarah Ellen Ravenscroft. Do you agree? Do you have an idea if these two are connected in some way?

John Jones was born in Llandyfrydog near Parys mountain copper mines on the Isle of Anglesey, North Wales, G.B. in Sept. 1806. Left Wales arrived NYC in 1833.In March 1836 he came to Pittsburgh and worked in coal mines 'til injured in Mannings pit, Duquesne Heights in 1846.Shortly after coming to Pittsburgh he married Jane Rees, eldest daughter of Widow Mary Rees.Her brother was owner of Rees,Hague, Hartupee & Co. Boat builders in Pittsburgh,PA.

They emigrated to Canada in 1881 and I am contact with some descendents. Your post is a little old so you may have found this out already.

I have the Cyrus S. Jones born 24 Dec 1880 in Claiborne Co., TN as the son of James Jones & Martha A. Pennington. I only have Lily McHargue listed as his wife. But then I have not thoroughly researched this particular Cyrus.

I have not acquired the certificate for Ida Bolton marr. Cy Jones 4/1/06 - so I can not speak for who was named as parents on that one.

Martha Whitaker married the Cyrus Jones who was born in 1873 in Laurel Co., KY. They married 22 Jan 1903 and then Martha died shortly thereafter.

I "see" 12 Family Trees that state her parents to be John JONES & Mary BRITTEN / BRITTON. But when I research separately from Family Trees online for children of that pair, most posters do not show a 1780 "Betsy". This is the "Betsy" that married 1801 Philip KUTER. I seek replies from any researchers who have not just copied from the 'net those parents mentioned above. I hate to see misdiagnosed genealogies posted, don't you, too? PS: We are tracing the son John COOTER (1804-1878) and 5 generations later a descendant married into my PROVOST Family Tree.

I've been exploring the family of James Wynne JONES as I read Your Guide to Cemetery Research. While I haven't yet found a bible or a bible transcription, I may indeed have found a bible that was owned by a relative of James Wynne JONES:

JONES Family; Holy Bible; 830 pp.; printed 1824 by E. Gardner, London, England; entirely in Welsh; was the personal Bible of Lewis Jones (no family data); found in Cincinnati, Ohio on 30 Dec 1995. {Returned to family}

Thanks to www.fordnagle.com for their work in reuniting records to their owners or I would never have seen this reference.

If you have additional information about this family of Welsh immigrants to Cincinnati in the mid-1850s, I'd love to hear from you. The JONES family is a collateral line but I've been intrigued by their monument at Spring Grove Cemetery. My 2nd great-grandaunt, Mary Elizabeth MOREHOUSE married James Wynne JONES.

BACKGROUND: James Wynne JONES(1834-1892) m1) Mary Elizabeth MOREHOUSE (1838-1863) on 7 Jan 1857 in Cincinnati, Hamilton, Ohio. He m2) Catherine E. ERRICKSON (1845-1893) probably in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Mary Elizabeth (MOREHOUSE) JONES died in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. James Wynne JONES and his second wife both died in Yonkers, Westchester, New York.
Children by his wife Mary Elizabeth:
Lillie (1859-1860)
Mary West (1860-1885). She married Kiernan.
Carrie W. (1860- )
Luella B. (1862- )
Children by his wife Catherine:
Eldridge (1865- )
Clarence W. (1967- )

James Wynne Jones' brother was probably John R. Jones (1831-1861). John's parents where John and Jane Jones.

I may have written to you before, but I don't remember. Vasa was my gr grandfather. He went to WV, had a newspaper in Wyoming County and died there. His son, M.L., started the Coal Valley News in Boone County, which is still in existence, though no longer in the family after Luther,
Vasa's grandson, died.

My father was Virgil, but I was raised by Luther.
